Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries in UP to get free gas cylinders on Holi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that the state government will once again provide free gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana on the occasion of Holi in March next year. For this, the beneficiaries of the scheme need to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar. Adityanath inaugurated the distribution campaign for free refills of cooking gas cylinders under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for 1.75 crore eligible families in the state from the Lok Bhavan on Friday the occasion of Dhanteras. The state government will spend Rs 2,312 crore on this campaign, it said in a statement. Adityanath said, "Our government is fulfilling another announcement made in the 'Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra' during the Assembly elections-2022. Before 2014, people were not able to get gas connections. Even if a connection was available, they had to stand in long queues for cylinders." Noida Police warns against spreading rumours on social media ahead of Holi

Spreading rumours on social media that could impact public tranquillity, law and order on Holi and Shab-e-Barat, both festivals falling on Wednesday, can land a person in trouble, the Gautam Buddh Nagar police warned on Tuesday. Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has directed officials to keep a close tab on social media activities and take immediate action against anarchic elements spreading rumours online, the police said in a statement. Security has been beefed up across Noida and Greater Noida, with around 5,000 police personnel and three companies of the PAC on the ground while deputy commissioners, assistant DCPs, and assistant commissioners are leading flag marches and patrolling their areas in view of the festivals. Indian Railways to run 491 trips of 196 special trains during Holi

The Railways will run 491 trips of 196 special trains during Holi for the convenience of passengers and to ease the festive rush, the national transporter said on Monday. These special trains will connect major destinations across the country, they said. "In this ongoing festive season of Holi, for the convenience of rail travellers and to clear extra rush of passengers, Indian Railways is running 491 trips of 196 special trains. Delhi Metro services to begin at 2:30 pm on March 8 on occasion of Holi

Delhi Metro services will begin from 2:30 pm on the day of Holi, officials said on Monday. The festival of colours will be celebrated on March 8. "On the day of the 'Holi' festival, i.e., March 8, 2023 (Wednesday), metro services will not be available till 14.30 hrs (2:30 PM) on all lines of Delhi Metro including Rapid Metro/Airport Express Line," the DMRC said in a statement. Metro train services will start at 2:30 pm from terminal stations on all lines on that day and will continue normally thereafter, it said. Metro feeder bus services will also resume after 2.30 pm on March 8, officials said.
