Hiranandani to invest Rs 3,200 cr to redevelop 5 Mumbai housing societies

Realty firm House of Hiranandani will invest Rs 3,200 crore to redevelop five housing societies in Mumbai. The company has presence in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The company said it has signed additional redevelopment projects of 17 lakh square feet with a GDV (Gross Development Value) of Rs 5,000 crore. "The company has entered into registered development agreements with five major housing societies in Chembur and plans to invest Rs 3,200 crore," House of Hiranandani said in a statement. These five housing societies in Chembur comprising 459 tenants include redevelopment of Maitri Park in Chembur East, admeasuring about 9 acres and Shrinagar Society in Chembur West, a cluster of four societies admeasuring about six acres. The company said it is in the process of securing necessary approvals and plans to complete the redevelopment within the next 4-5 years. Fire erupts in electric meter box at Mumbai housing society, no injuries

A fire erupted in the electric meter box of a housing society in Mumbai's western suburb of Andheri East on Saturday morning following which fire officials broke the window grille of a flat to rescue its occupants, an official said. No one was injured in the incident at Saki Cooperative Housing Society in Saki Naka area. Flame and smoke began rising from the meter box of the six-storey building around 8.50 am, prompting the residents to call the fire brigade. Fire officials rushed a team along with a water tanker, an ambulance and other equipment to the spot. They disconnected the power supply to the building and brought the fire under control around 10.45 am, the official said. Since the meter box is located on the ground floor of the building and it was risky for the occupants of the flat above to come down, fire officials cut one window grille of the apartment to enter the house and rescue those inside, he said. No lungi-nighty outdoors: Noida society issues dress code, withdraws later

A Greater Noida group housing society issued a dress code for its residents, advising them not to wear 'lungis' or 'nighties' within the complex, only to withdraw the diktat on Wednesday. The dress code was issued via a notice by the residents' body of Himsagar Apartments on June 10 following a complaint about objectionable dressing by some residents. "All of you are expected to take care of your behaviour and dressing when venturing out in the society so that nobody gets a chance to raise any objection. Your children also learn from you. Hence, it is requested to you that lungi or nighty, which are worn inside homes, should not be used outdoors, the notice issued by the secretary of the residents' body stated. However, the move drew divergent reactions from the residents and apparently hurt" the sentiments of some, prompting the society to withdraw it after four days. "The notice related to the dress code on June 10 was issued on the basis of a complaint raised by some residents.

Mahindra Lifespace bags housing society redevelopment project in Mumbai

Realty firm Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd on Monday said it has bagged a project to redevelop a housing society in Mumbai with an expected revenue potential of Rs 850 crore. In a regulatory filing, Mahindra Lifespace -- the real estate and infrastructure development arm of the Mahindra Group, said it has won another society redevelopment project, which is spread over 3.6 acres land. "The company has been selected as the preferred partner to redevelop a residential society in Malad, West, one of the prominent residential and commercial localities situated in the western part of Mumbai. The project will offer Mahindra Lifespaces a revenue potential of around Rs 850 crore," it added. This is the second society redevelopment project bagged by the company. Residents clash in Noida society, 2 security guards detained: Police

Two private security guards of a housing complex here were taken into police custody over clashes between two groups of residents, officials said on Friday. The two groups of the residents of Hyde Park in Sector 78, located within the Sector 113 police station limits, clashed on Thursday night, resulting in minor injuries to two women, they added. "The clashes broke out between the residents over the post of president of the society's Apartment Owners' Association (AOA). The guards also got involved in the fight, leading to injuries to two women," a police official said. "Two guards have been detained following a complaint from the injured women and further investigation is underway," the police official said. Police said CCTV footage is being analysed to ascertain the sequence of events. Video clips purportedly of the clash are circulating on social media platforms. In one of the clips, a woman is seen slapping a security guard.

200 fall sick in Gurugram housing society; infected water probable cause

More than 200 residents of a housing society in Sector 72 here fell ill with complaints of vomit, bloating, fever, and diarrhoea possibly from infected supply of water. The mass breakout was reported in the Spaze Privy society which comprises about 600 houses with about 2,000 people living in them. The city health department on Tuesday conducted an emergency OPD in the society, examining 80 people and treating 60 of them for nausea, vomiting, and loose motion. The health department team has taken samples of water and test reports are awaited. The RWA of the society had on Monday emailed deputy commissioner, MCG commissioner, and the civil surgeon reporting an outbreak of gastroenteritis in Spaze Privy society.
