Realty firm House of Hiranandani will invest Rs 3,200 crore to redevelop five housing societies in Mumbai. The company has presence in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. The company said it has signed additional redevelopment projects of 17 lakh square feet with a GDV (Gross Development Value) of Rs 5,000 crore. "The company has entered into registered development agreements with five major housing societies in Chembur and plans to invest Rs 3,200 crore," House of Hiranandani said in a statement. These five housing societies in Chembur comprising 459 tenants include redevelopment of Maitri Park in Chembur East, admeasuring about 9 acres and Shrinagar Society in Chembur West, a cluster of four societies admeasuring about six acres. The company said it is in the process of securing necessary approvals and plans to complete the redevelopment within the next 4-5 years. A fire erupted in the electric meter box of a housing society in Mumbai's western suburb of Andheri East on Saturday morning following which fire officials broke the window grille of a flat to rescue its occupants, an official said. No one was injured in the incident at Saki Cooperative Housing Society in Saki Naka area. Flame and smoke began rising from the meter box of the six-storey building around 8.50 am, prompting the residents to call the fire brigade. Fire officials rushed a team along with a water tanker, an ambulance and other equipment to the spot. They disconnected the power supply to the building and brought the fire under control around 10.45 am, the official said. Since the meter box is located on the ground floor of the building and it was risky for the occupants of the flat above to come down, fire officials cut one window grille of the apartment to enter the house and rescue those inside, he said. Realty firm Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd on Monday said it has bagged a project to redevelop a housing society in Mumbai with an expected revenue potential of Rs 850 crore. In a regulatory filing, Mahindra Lifespace -- the real estate and infrastructure development arm of the Mahindra Group, said it has won another society redevelopment project, which is spread over 3.6 acres land. "The company has been selected as the preferred partner to redevelop a residential society in Malad, West, one of the prominent residential and commercial localities situated in the western part of Mumbai. Two private security guards of a housing complex here were taken into police custody over clashes between two groups of residents, officials said on Friday. The two groups of the residents of Hyde Park in Sector 78, located within the Sector 113 police station limits, clashed on Thursday night, resulting in minor injuries to two women, they added. "The clashes broke out between the residents over the post of president of the society's Apartment Owners' Association (AOA). The guards also got involved in the fight, leading to injuries to two women," a police official said.
