PC maker HP India is set to sign an agreement with electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies' subsidiary Padget Electronics to make the company's notebooks, desktops and all-in-one PCs under the PLI 2.0 scheme in India, a joint statement said on Monday. The production will take place at a new facility of Padget Electronics being established in Chennai. "Padget Electronics Private Limited intends to enter into an MOU with HP India Sales Private Limited to carry out manufacturing of notebooks, desktops, and all-in-one PCs under PLI 2.0, subject to signing of definitive agreements in due course," the statement said. Monsoon: Himachal faces Rs 329 cr loss, 40 killed in rain-related incidents

As many as 40 persons died in rain-related incidents in Himachal Pradesh since the onset of monsoon on June 27 till July 20 and the state has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 329 crore, according to the state emergency operation centre. One person was washed away as a cloudburst incident took place in Raitua village in Anj Bhoj area under Paonta subdivision in Sirmaur district late Friday night. Confirming the incident, Paonta Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gunjeet Cheema said that immediately after getting the information of a cloudburst in Raitua village, a team of Puruwala police station with the help of local residents launched a search operation in the five km long area where the Raitua Nullah flows to join the Tons River. After a night long rescue and search operation, the dead body of a 48-year-old person identified as Aman Singh, a resident of Danda Anj village, was recovered from the Tons river on Saturday morning. India PC market grew 2.6% in Jan-Mar to 3.07 mn units, HP tops chart

The traditional PC market in India, comprising desktops, notebooks, and workstations, grew 2.6 per cent to 30.7 lakh units in the March quarter, market research firm International Data Corporation said on Thursday. HP led the personal computer (PC) market with a 30.1 per cent share despite an 8.8 per cent decline in shipments. The company's PC shipment dropped to 9.23 lakh units during the quarter from 10.12 lakh a year ago. Dell Technologies and Acer Group's PC volume shipments market share grew 28.8 per cent each to 17.5 and 15.4 per cent, respectively. The market shares of Lenovo and Asus declined to 15.1 and 5.9 per cent, respectively, during the reported quarter. The share of Lenovo declined 1.3 per cent to 4.64 lakh units from 4.7 lakh while that of Asus declined 8.3 per cent to 1.82 lakh from 1.98 lakh on a year-on-year basis.
