Teenager drowns in Ganga river while taking ritual bath on Karthik Purnima

An 18-year-old man drowned in Ganga river while taking a ritual bath on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, police said Saturday. The incident took place Friday under the Ramraj Police Station area, SHO Rajender Giri said. The teenager had come with two friends for a dip in the holy river but he drowned, Giri said.

Man's body found in bushes in southeast Delhi, ears and eyes missing

The body of a man, in his 20s, with its eyes and ears suspected to be bitten off by animals, was found in bushes in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur on Friday, police said. Police were informed about the body around 4.30 pm and upon reaching there it was found deep in a jungle. There were bruises on his forehead and a spot near his neck, with the eyes and ears missing, police said. It seems that the ears and eyes were bitten off by animals, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said. A small foil (suspected to be containing narcotics), some cash, a small iron chain and some papers were found on searching the body, he said, adding during enquiry, it was revealed that the man was a drug addict and used to visit such abandoned places. The deceased is believed to be a resident of Sangam Vihar, police said.

Death toll in Nepal bus mishap rises to 18

At least 18 people have died and several others sustained injuries in a bus mishap in far-west Nepal, police said on Friday. The ill-fated bus rolled 300 metres down a hilly road on Thursday in Dadeldhura district, about 650 kms west of Kathmandu. Ten people died on the spot and six others died during treatment after the overloaded school bus met with the accident at Raduwakhola in the district. Two more people died on Friday while undergoing treatment, the police said. Ten critically injured passengers have been admitted to the Dadeldhura sub-regional hospital.

Saudi crown prince leaves on first foreign tour since Khashoggi murder

- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman left Thursday on a visit to "brotherly Arab countries", state media reported, his first official trip abroad since the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Prince Mohammed will visit a "number of" Arab states at the request of his father, King Salman, the royal court said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency. Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya television reported that Prince Mohammed will make his first stop in close ally the United Arab Emirates. Pet dog's owners who left it unattended booked following death

: A case has been registered against a family here for alleged negligence in leaving their pet dog tied in an apartment without without food and water for nine days "resulting" in its death, police said Thursday. The case was registered under IPC Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on complaint by Humane Society International-India against the family, the police said. The dog died due to possible starvation in the absence of the family who were reportedly on a holiday, the complainant alleged. According to the complainant, HSI India consultant, Teja Panneru, the matter came to light on the social media on November 17, when the residents of the building complained about the dog being in an unconscious state. Police said the neighbours had also complained of a 'foul' smell emanating following the dog's death and further claimed that the family was given notice on the ill-treatment of the dog

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday unveiled a bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Australian city of Sydney and said his powerful message of non-violence and peaceful coexistence is relevant in these times of strife.
