Rapido offers free rides to 2,600 polling booths in Hyderabad on Nov 30

Ride-sharing platform, Rapido on Monday announced the launch of free rides to over 2,600 polling stations in the city on November 30, to help voters. A press release from the firm said, the initiative reflects Rapido's commitment to boosting voter turnout in Telangana, particularly among its predominantly young user base. Rapido's Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli, said India's democracy is its biggest highlight, and we are proud to be the disruptors in making every vote count. We urge people to participate in greater numbers to cast their vote without worrying about transportation. By facilitating free bike rides on Election Day, we intend to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote. Recognizing transportation as a critical factor in voter participation, Rapido's offer of free rides aims to boost widespread participation in the election process, ensuring that many can actively partake in the festival of democracy, the release added.

Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy on Monday said Hyderabad would be renamed as 'Bhagyanagar' if his party comes to power in the state. Reddy, who spoke to reporters here, said the names of cities like Madras, Bombay and Calcutta have been changed. "Yes. Definitely, if the BJP government comes to power, (we) will change the name of Hyderabad. I am asking who is Hyder? Do we need the name of Hyder? Where has Hyder come from? I am asking who needs Hyder. If BJP comes to power, definitely, (we) will remove Hyder and change the name as Bhagyanagar," he said. Why should the name not be changed, he asked. The name of Madras has not been changed to Chennai by the BJP but by the DMK government, he said. PM Modi to address MRPS rally in Hyderabad today ahead of T'gana polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a rally being organised by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi, a community organisation of Madigas, one of the biggest constituents of scheduled castes in Telugu states, at the Parade Ground here on Saturday. This is Modi's second rally in a row in the city after the notification for the polls was announced on November 3. MRPS has been demanding sub-categorisation of reservation for the Scheduled Caste communities for over three decades. NV Subhash, BJP Telangana spokesperson, said PM Modi will make some key announcements with respect to categorisation of SCs. The city police issued traffic advisories in connection with the meeting. On November 7, Modi addressed a rally here - "BC Atma Gourava Sabha" (Backwards classes self-respect meeting)- at the LB Stadium here. T'gana polls: IT dept sets up AIUs in Hyderabad, forms Quick Response Teams

The Income Tax Department has formed Quick Response Teams in all 33 districts of Telangana and set up Air Intelligence Units (AIU) at two airports in Hyderabad as part of measures undertaken by it to ensure free and fair elections in the state, which is going to polls on November 30, a senior official said on Wednesday. Quick Response Teams have been formed in all 33 districts with officials of the Income Tax department and around 250 officials that includes 100 deputed by the Principal Chief Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) Hyderabad Sanjay Bahadur told reporters.
