World Cup: BCCI tells HCA that no further change in schedule possible

The Indian cricket board on Monday officially turned down the request of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to change the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule. The HCA had appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a change in schedule after the local police authorities expressed their reservations about deploying adequate personnel on back-to-back match days. "BCCI secretary Jay Shah held a meeting with HCA officials in Delhi after the Asia Cup team selection meeting (for which the secretary is convenor) and the state unit was categorically told that no changes would be entertained after a revised schedule was issued on August 9," a BCCI source informed. The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla had already indicated on Sunday that "changes (to the schedule) were unlikely." The World Cup schedule, which was first released on June 27 in Mumbai amidst fanfare, went through a lot of changes with dates and timings of as many as nine games, including the marquee India vs

World Cup: Rajiv Shukla says schedule change not possible on HCA demands

Hosting two World Cup games in as many days is not ideal for organisational as well as security reasons, said a Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) official on Sunday but BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla was clear that any further tweak in schedule is "unlikely". After a much-delayed schedule announcement in June, the BCCI and ICC rescheduled as many as nine games earlier this month, including the marquee clash between India and Pakistan. With the Indo-Pak fixture in Ahmedabad advanced by a day on October 15, Pakistan's game against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad was moved to October 10 from October 12. The HCA is also hosting New Zealand versus Netherlands on October 9. Now, with Hyderabad police expressing its reservations on providing security for back-to-back games, the HCA had sought another change in schedule, wanting a gap of at least a day between the two games. "I can't say it would be changed for sure but back to back games are not ideal. I mean if they (BCCI) are reconsidering

The race faces an uncertain future after not being included in the provisional calendar for next season. Longo hinted timely payments by promotors -- Greenko -- was an issue even as he praised the support provided by the Telangana state government. IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao played a key role in bringing Formula E to India. "The truth is that we are in talks with minister KTR and his team, and the promoter. We had some challenges in the past and I'm sure it will be solved but until everything is solved and sorted out obviously we cannot announce the city bu
