Tiddim Road Athletic United (TRAU) FC, the club from Imphal, Manipur, which was one of the high-flyers of the last season, will come up against the young Indian Arrows team in the opening match
This year's I-League season will kick off on December 26 in Kolkata with a match between TRAU FC of Manipur and All India Football Federation's developmental side Indian Arrows. The matches will be played across three venues -- Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata, Kalyani Stadium and Naihati Stadium. With three new entrants -- Sreenidi Deccan FC of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan United FC and Kenkre FC of Kolhapur -- this season, the number of teams has increased to 13. All of them, along with the referees, officials and volunteers, will be housed inside bio-secured bubbles in four different hotels across Kolkata. "The AIFF has been a pioneer in Indian sporting ecosystem in hosting sporting events from inside bio-bubbles, and we are happy to continue providing a safe heaven for players, referees, and everyone else involved in running the league," said AIFF Leagues CEO Sunando Dhar in a release. Bidyashagar Singh scored his 12th goal of the I-League 2020-21 in the D-Day clash against Gokulam Kerala FC, which put TRAU FC in the lead and in pole position for the title
Gokulam Kerala will take on Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) in a virtual I-League final with both sides aiming for their maiden title at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan here on Saturday. After 14 rounds, three teams -- Gokulam Kerala, TRAU and Churchill Brothers -- are in contention for the trophy. All three teams have 26 points each and if they end with the same tally of points, the head-to-head results will decide the title winner. The equation is simple for Gokulam Kerala. They just need to beat TRAU and secure their maiden I-League title as the Malabrians lead second-placed Churchill Brothers on head-to-head record. Gokulam can also secure the championship with a draw against TRAU if Churchill lose their game to Punjab FC in a simultaneous last round match to be played at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan here. But, Gokulam would rather prefer his team finish the job by beating TRAU. "This is a final for us, and we need to win this game. We are too excited, we cannot relax.
Churchill Brothers will need more than a victory against Punjab FC to clinch the I-League title in their last match of the season at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Saturday. As the I-League title race went down the wire, three teams -- Gokulam Kerala, Churchill Brothers and TRAU -- are in contention after 14 rounds. All three teams have 26 points each and if they end with the same tally of points, the head-to-head results will decide the title winner. At one stage, it seemed like two-time champions Churchill Brothers were running away with the title. However, inconsistent performances in the championship stage have pegged them back. The Red Machines not only need a victory but are dependent on the result of the Gokulam Kerala vs TRAU match to be played simultaneously at another venue. Churchill are at a disadvantage against Gokulam head-to-head and they trail TRAU on overall goal difference. So, the most realistic equation for Churchill lifting the trophy is to beat Punjab FC and

Aizawl FC staged a remarkable comeback by scoring two goals at the fag end to beat 10-man Sudeva Delhi FC 2-1 in their last I-League match at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium here on Thursday. After Sairuatkima was sent off in the 34th minute, Kean Lewis gave Sudeva the lead in the 42nd minute. Substitute Rohmingthanga Bawlte scored the equaliser in the 90th minute before Brandon Vanlalremdika struck from the spot in the sixth minute of the added time to hand Aizawl all the three points. Coming on the back of a 3-1 win over Chennai City FC, Aizawl FC continued with their usual attacking style of football in the opening minutes of the match. The swiftness of the Aizawl forwards troubled the Sudeva Delhi FC defence. In the 13th minute, Alfred Jaryan's solo run came agonisingly close to giving Aizawl the lead. Off the corner kick, a thumping header by Laldinpuia earned a world-class save by Rakshit Dagar to protect Sudeva Delhi from falling behind. In the 34th minute, Sudeva Delhi FC,

All India Football Federation's (AIFF) developmental side, Indian Arrows, will look to draw the curtains on their Hero I-League campaign on a high when they take on Sudeva Delhi here on Saturday. Goals from Kean Lewis, Mahesh Singh, and Shaiborlang Kharpan helped Chencho Dorji's side get the better of Indian Arrows back in match week 3. However, the Indian Arrows, now finding themselves in a much better streak of results having won two of their last three games, will be looking for sweet revenge against the Delhi team. Sudeva Delhi rode on Gursimrat Singh Gill's header to beat and relegate NEROCA FC in their last game. And now, the Delhi-based club sits second in Group B with 15 points from 12 games, three points behind Aizawl FC. Despite being exempt from relegation, Sudeva will be motivated to beat the Indian Arrows and extend their winning run to three games. Speaking at the official pre-match press conference, Sudeva Delhi assistant coach Pushpender Kundu said, "The last win
Relegation was confirmed for Neroca FC as they slumped to yet another defeat, losing by a solitary goal to nil against Sudeva Delhi FC on Tuesday.Gursimrat Singh Gill's header in added time of the first half proved to be the difference between the two sides in a match where Neroca had largely themselves to blame for the defeat.Coming on the back of a 0-1 loss to Aizawl FC in their last match, Neroca needed all three points to stand a chance of taking the relegation battle to the final matchday. The Gift Raikhan-coached side played with desperation from the opening minutes of the match, in their quest to take an early lead.In the 16th minute, Sudeva Delhi FC had their first opportunity on goal when Mahesh Singh tested his luck from the distance. The strike, although accurate, lacked venom and was easily collected by the opposition goalkeeper. But perhaps the best opportunity of the first half fell to Judah Garcia in the 19th minute.
