Marshal's injury time strike hands Churchill 2-1 victory over Real Kashmir

Fredsan Marshall's injury time strike gave Churchill Brothers a 2-1 win over Real Kashmir FC in the I-League here on Friday. After Lukman Adefemi's (67th) second-half strike had cancelled out Luka Majcen's first-half goal (45+1), Marshall's (90+4)long-range screamer proved to be the difference between the two sides. Churchill Brothers played the first half explosively, restricting Real Kashmir FC mostly in their own half. With Churchill Brothers dominating possession and the tempo of the play, Real Kashmir relied on their solid defending and rarely moved forward through counters and long balls. However, at the stroke of half-time, a long ball by Vinil Poojary that took a heavy deflection led Haroon Amiri to make an error as he failed to clear the ball that fell pleasingly to Luka Majcen. C lear on goal, Majcen slotted past a hapless opposition goalkeeper to take Churchill Brothers into half-time leading 1-0. If the first half belonged to Churchill, the second belonged to Real Kas

Bidyashagar's hat-trick helps TRAU steam past Mohammedan 4-0

Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) rode on a clinical first-half performance to steam past Mohammedan SC 4-0 here on Friday and move up the Hero I-League table. Bidyashagar Singh became the first Indian to score a hat-trick in this season as his goals coupled with a Phalguni Singh strike in the first half led the Nandakumar-coached side to an easy win over their opponents, in a match where TRAU hardly seemed to be in danger of losing. TRAU had scored three goals in the first half and topped off their attacking prowess with one goal in the second half. Although Mohammedan SC had an opportunity to go ahead in the 4th minute when Vanlalbiaa Chhangte was denied by Amrit Gope from close range, the Black Panthers played catch-up for much of the first half to a superior TRAU. The Manipur-based club dominated possession and chances created. Their attacking pedigree in front of goal finally seemed to kick-in as they took their chances a stark difference from the first phase of the season wh

Mason Robertson's brace takes Real Kashmir to top of I-League table

Mason Robertson's fine brace helped a dominant Real Kashmir FC beat Aizawl FC 3-1 and jump to the top of the I-League table at the VYBK Stadium here on Tuesday. After a defensive error had given Aizawl FC the lead through Lalremsanga in the 26th minute, Lukman Adefemi's strike in the first half and a double by Robertson in the second powered the Snow Leopards to a thumping win. With the win, Real Kashmir FC extended their unbeaten streak to nine games and could remain on top of the I-League table, if Churchill Brothers drop points against NEROCA on Wednesday. In what was a cagey first half between the two sides, it took two moments of defensive errors from either team to let the other score. However, it was Aizawl who tried to breach the Real Kashmir FC citadel with their possession-heavy style of football from the opening minutes. In the eighth minute, Real Kashmir goalkeeper Mithun Samanta was forced to make his first save of the match when Ramhlunchhunga sent a powerful shot. Bu

Unbeaten Real Kashmir face high-flying Aizawl FC in Hero I-League

Unbeaten Real Kashmir FC will face a litmus test in high-flying Aizawl FC when they lock horns in an I-League match here on Tuesday. Both sides will look to consolidate their position in the top four. Real Kashmir saved their unbeaten run from ending after Dipanda Dicka cancelled out Punjab FC's lead in what was a top-of-the-table clash, eventually playing out a 1-1 draw. The draw, however, pushed the Snow Leopards down into third place with 14 points from eight games. Head coach David Robertson now will be hoping for three points against Aizawl, which could take them further up in the table. Speaking at the virtual pre-match press conference, Robertson said, "We came from a goal down against Punjab. This showed a lot of character as we did against NEROCA. Spirits are high within the team. "Aizawl are a very good team, we saw them against Mohammedan. They are quick, enthusiastic, and difficult to play against. We got to be at our absolute best to beat them," the Scottish manager s
