RoundGlass Punjab aim to consolidate top spot with win over Real Kashmir

RoundGlass Punjab will look to extend their slender solitary point lead when the Curtis Fleming-coached side clashes against second-placed Real Kashmir FC in the I-League encounter here on Thursday. RoundGlass Punjab extended their winning run of games to three by beating Chennai City FC 2-0 in their last match. The win made them the first team to replace Churchill Brothers on the top of the I-League with 14 points out of 8 matches. Curtis Fleming's side plays its second-last game before the league heads into the second stage, and a win could extend its lead to 4 points over Kashmir, who still have a game in hand. Speaking at the virtual pre-match press meet, coach Curtis Fleming said, "I don't think there has been any extra pressure. It's been the same pressure from the start of the season to see how we would perform in our first season as a professional team." Fleming said that he considers Real Kashmir as favourites to win the title. "I rate Real Kashmir really high. He (Davi

Hero I-league: Aizawl FC share points with Sudeva Delhi FC

Former champions Aizawl FC failed to score from a penalty kick as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Sudeva Delhi FC in an I-League match at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium here on Sunday. Aizawl had only themselves to blame in a match where they dominated possession and had scoring chances, including the penalty kick in the second half. They had numerous scoring chances, but poor finishing let them down as Alfred Jaryan's second-half strike cancelled out Kean Lewis' goal in the first half, leading both teams to share points. Aizawl FC did not waste time in attacking and went hunting for an early goal. As early as the sixth minute, Aizawl FC's Brandon Vanlalremdika cut inside the box and unleashed a curling shot but it was saved by the opposition goalkeeper Rakshit Dagar. Sudeva Delhi FC relied mostly on counter-attacks. In the 19th minute, much against the run of play, Sudeva opened scoring. A long throw from the right flank fell to Kean Lewis, who volleyed it the first time to hand .

Clinical Chennai City beat NEROCA 2-1 to jump to top half of table

Former champions Chennai City FC dished out a clinical attacking brand of football to beat NEROCA FC 2-1 in an I-League match here on Tuesday. Strikes from Vineeth Kumar (6th) and Demir Avdic (68th) were enough to hand Chennai City the win despite Subash Singh reducing the deficit in the 79th minute. With this win, Chennai City FC find themselves in the top half of the table while NEROCA are still on 10th place. Chennai City wasted no time in showing their attacking intent but a fourth minute effort by Vladimir Molerovic from a distance went inches over the bar. However, the Chennai-based club had to wait just two minutes after Molerovic's attempt to take the lead. Vineeth Kumar was found by an accurate cross from Mohamed Iqbal from the left flank on the far post. Vineeth's diving header from a tight angle beat the opposition custodian as Chennai took a 1-0 lead. The goal, which came out of nowhere, jolted NEROCA and shortly after, attempts by Demir Avdic of Chennai City were kept

Dicka, Ralte shine as Real Kashmir earn first win of I-League season

Dipanda Dicka and Lalrindika Ralte shone bright as Real Kashmir notched up their first win of the season, beating Chennai City FC 2-0 in an I-League fixture here on Friday. In a cagey match where chances were few and both teams cancelled each other out in the middle of the park, Dicka's 16-minute strike and a late goal by substitute Ralte proved to be the difference between the two sides. Although Chennai City FC dominated possession for much of the match, Real Kashmir's counter-attacking style of play earned them the win. In the eighth minute, Dicka tried to squeeze in a header from a cross but his effort was saved by the opposition custodian. Eight minutes later, the Cameroonian forward connected first time off a Lukman Adefemi cut-back inside the box and smashed the ball home to hand the Snow Leopards a solitary goal lead. For all their possession in the final third, Chennai City seemed a bit lost in attack with no one able to open the defence of the Snow Leopards. Even from s
