ICC World Cup: Facilitating visas for Pakistan media BCCI's duty, says ICC

The BCCI is working hard on procuring visas for the Pakistani journalists waiting to travel to India for the World Cup, the International Cricket Council said after PCB expressed its disappointment again over the delay in visa clearance for its fans and media. Around 60 Pakistani journalists are expected to make the trip across the border. Pakistan had plenty of local support for their World Cup opener against Netherlands here on Friday but no member of their media contingent or fan was present. Karachi-born Mohammad Bashir, who is a US citizen, was seen rooting for Pakistan in the stands. While the ICC is the World Cup organiser, the BCCI is hosting the ODI showpiece. This (visa) is an obligation of our host (BCCI) and they are working hard on it with our full support. Every effort is being made to get this sorted, an ICC Spokesperson told PTI. With a large number of fans expected to travel across the border, the PCB is hoping that the visas will come through before the big game

Pakistani players issued Indian visa for ICC World Cup 2023 travel

Members of the Pakistan cricket team were on Monday issued Indian visas for the ODI World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed, hours after the PCB raised serious concerns with the global body over the delay in the national team's travel to Hyderabad. The visa clearance came less than 48 hours before Pakistan's scheduled travel to India in the wee hours of September 27. They play their first warm-up game against New Zealand in Hyderabad on September 29. "Visas have been issued to Pakistan," an ICC spokesperson told PTI. However, confusion remained in the Pakistan camp over the grant of visa. "We have not got the call from Indian High Commission yet over visa clearance. Member of our team is stationed there," PCB spokesperon Umar Farooq told PTI. The confirmation from the ICC came after the PCB wrote to ICC CEO Geoff Allardice on Monday over the visa delay besides claiming the anxious wait has adversely impacted the team's preparation for the 50-over ...

ICC charges 3 Indians for corrupt activities during Emirates T10 league

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), has charged eight players and officials, including a couple of Indian co-owners Parag Sanghvi and Krishan Kumar Chaudhary on different counts of corrupt activities during the Emirates T10 League. The duo were co-owners of the team Pune Devils and one of their players in that edition -- former Bangladesh Test batter Nasir Hossain has also been charged for breach of league's anti-corruption code. The third Indian, who indulged in corrupt activities, is a little known batting coach named Sunny Dhillon. "The charges relate to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League and attempts to corrupt matches in that tournament these attempts were disrupted. Nothing personal: Venkatesh Prasad on his social media posts against BCCI

The BCCI could have handled the scheduling and ticketing process of the World Cup in a better way, says former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad, who insisted that his outburst on social media on the issue is in no way a tirade against any individual. The ICC in consultation with hosts BCCI rescheduled as many as nine games, including the marquee India vs Pakistan match, which was originally scheduled on October 15 in Ahmedabad but had to be advanced by a day on account of Navratri celebrations. Prasad has often taken to social media platform 'X' (formerly twitter) to share his opinion and on Saturday in a series a of tweets he criticised BCCI. However one tweet that went caught attention: "It takes one corrupt, arrogant guy to take away the hardwork of an otherwise non-corrupt organisation and spoil the reputation of an entire organisation & the impact isn't just micro but at a macro level. This is true in every field, be it politics, sports, journalism, corporate." While he did not ..

West Indies vs India 2023: ICC rates pitches for both Tests as average

The International Cricket Council has come up with an "average" rating for the pitch at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, which hosted the opening Test between West India and India in July. Jeff Crowe, the match referee for the Test, had initially given a "below average" rating for the track, which would have seen the venue receive a demerit point. While Cricket West Indies would have had the option to appeal Crowe's verdict in that case, it would have also had to explain to the ICC regarding the sub-standard of the pitch. The pitch was famous for being slow and its turns, as batting first, the hosts were bundled for 150, with veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagging a fifer, while leg-spinner Ravindra Jadeja scalped three. The visitors managed well with the bat, putting on 421 for the loss of five wickets, thanks to openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scoring 171 and 103, respectively. However, the Men in Blue ran havoc with the ball again in the second innings, with
