IIMs develop framework for SaaS adoption in capital markets, banking sector

Researchers at Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Lucknow, Amritsar and Kashipur have combined to develop a new framework to guide the country's capital market players and banking sectors in adopting technologies that would enable them to use software without installing them. Referred to as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technologies, these are cloud-based services that deliver software applications over the Internet, eliminating the need for organisations to install and maintain software on their own servers. While SaaS is widely used globally, its adoption in India, particularly among regulated industries, has been slow. IIM Kashipur's highest domestic package up 16% at Rs 25.4 lakh

Even as it wrapped up its placements, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur saw the highest domestic compensation package rise by 16 per cent over last year. As against the highest domestic package of Rs 21.78 lakhs during last year's final placements, IIM Kashipur posted Rs 25.4 lakh this year. However, in terms of highest international package, the same dipped marginally from Rs 53.75 lakhs last year to Rs 53.1 lakh this year. As per the institute, around 49 firms came for the final placements for the 2015-17 batch of 122 students, of which 119 were eligible for placements. Apparently, both of the highest international and domestic offer were bagged by female students.
