Govt bulldozed 3 illegal colonies in Gurugram on receiving complaint

Authorities carried out a drive on Wednesday and demolished three illegal colonies here, officials said. The team used a JCB machine to demolish illegal constructions, boundary walls of four plots among other structures, they said. District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia said these illegal colonies had come up in Farrukhnagar, Mubarikpur and Taj Nagar. The department had received a complaint which was investigated, he said. "After probing the matter, the complaint was found to be true following which notices were also issued to those who developed these colonies illegally. "They were instructed to remove the illegal constructions but even after issuing them notices, when these structures were not removed, the department's team demolished the three illegal colonies spread over five-and-a-half acres. The drive against the illegal construction will be continue," said Madholia said.

Noida twin tower case: 5,000 residents to be moved out on demolition day

More than 5,000 residents will vacate Emerald Court and ATS Village societies and over 2,500 vehicles will be removed from there on August 28 - the day of demolition for Supertech's illegal twin towers in Noida, officials said. While the twin towers had come up on premises of Emerald Court only, ATS Village is adjoining the illegal structures on the other side in Sector 93A of the city. The impact of the demolition of the nearly 100 metre tall twin towers would be maximum on these two societies and its residents, the officials said. In pursuance of a Supreme Court order that found the twin towers illegal, they are scheduled to be demolished at 2.30 pm on August 28 by controlled implosion technique. Over 3,500 kg of explosives will be used to raze them, according to officials of the demolition firm Edifice Engineering. According to the evacuation plan, finalised on Thursday, the residents of Emerald Court and ATS Village will have to vacate the premises by 7.30 am on August 28 and

L&T lowest bidder for construction of Common Central Secretariat

Infrastructure firm Larsen & Toubro Limited on Monday emerged as the lowest bidder for the construction and maintenance of the first three buildings of the Common Central Secretariat under the Central Vista redevelopment project. According to the Central Public Works Department's bid documents, Larsen & Toubro Limited quoted around Rs 3,141 crore, which is 3.47 per cent less than the estimated cost. The firm submitted a total bid amount of Rs 31,41,99,87,657. NCC Ltd quoted the second lowest bid amount of around Rs 3,318 crore for the project, which was 1.94 per cent more than the estimated cost. The bid documents show that Tata Projects Limited quoted around Rs 3,546 crore, which is 8.96 per cent more than the estimated cost. These new buildings will come up on the plot where the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts is located. An official said that the the Board of Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which has been executing the Modi government's ambitious Central .
