PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday hit out at the media, saying instead of covering real problems, it was wasting time by discussing non-issues such as the Jammu and Kashmir administration issuing an eviction notice to her. The administration had earlier this week issued an eviction notice to the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, saying she was not entitled to use the bungalow on the high security Gupkar Road. "The media is wasting time in discussing non-issues like Mehboba Mufti vacating the house. Ideally, they should focus on real issues and problems faced by people (of Jammu and Kashmir) but they are not doing that," the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader told reporters after paying obeisance at her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's grave in Anantnag district. TV18 Broadcast Q2 profit down 95.5% to Rs 10.28 cr; revenue up 12.6%

Media firm TV18 Broadcast Ltd on Tuesday reported a 95.55 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 10.28 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2022. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 231.40 crore for the July-September period of the previous fiscal, TV18 Broadcast said in a regulatory filing. However, its consolidated revenue from operations rose by 12.65 per cent to Rs 1,473.43 crore compared to Rs 1,307.90 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. TV18 Broadcast's total expenses were at Rs 1,485.95 crore, up 34.59 per cent from Rs 1,104 crore earlier. According to the company, economic sentiment remained weak during the quarter with high inflation posing a challenge for companies, especially in the FMCG sector. 90% of leadership positions in Indian media occupied by upper caste: Report

About 90 per cent of leadership positions in Indian media are occupied by upper caste groups with not even a single Dalit or Adivasi heading Indian mainstream media, according to a new report. The second edition of Oxfam India-Newslaundry's Report Who tells our stories matters: Representation of Marginalised Caste Groups in Indian Media' reveals that around 90 per cent leadership positions in print, TV and digital media are occupied by General caste groups with no Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) heading mainstream media outlets. The report released at The Media Rumble, South Asia's largest news media forum also shows that every 3 out of 5 articles in Hindi and English newspapers are written by General caste authors while marginalised castes (SC, ST or OBC) only contribute to around 1 out of 5 articles.
