The Allahabad High Court has directed the makers of controversial movie "Adipurush" to appear before it on July 27 and the central government to form a committee to give its views on the film. A vacation bench comprising Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Shree Prakash Singh was hearing separate petitions of Kuldeep Tiwari and Naveen Dhawan seeking a ban on the movie. The court has ordered director Om Raut, producer Bhushan Kumar, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir to appear before it on July 27. It has also directed the central government to constitute a five-member committee to give its view on the film as to whether it had hurt the feelings of the public. In an order, it also directed the government to review the decision of granting of certificate to the movie. The order was uploaded on the high court's website late on Friday. Renowned film director Satyajit Ray's early black and white movies have all been restored and will be showcased before global audiences soon, said the movie maestro's son Sandip Ray on Tuesday. He said that his father's work remained popular because of an element of "timelessness" in the films he made starting with Pather Panchali' (song of the road) which was released in 1955, winning laurels at the Cannes festival. "We could not do much to celebrate Satyajit Ray's 100th birth anniversary (in 2021) because of the pandemic. We will chalk out a program to celebrate it on a grander scale including having a retrospective of his cinema. "Most of his movies all the black and white films included have been restored. We are now working on restoring 'Kanchenjunga' (a family drama based on an original Ray screenplay)," said Sandip Ray, a well-known film director in his own right, in an interview to PTI Video. Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves, the Netflix documentary bested Haulout, How Do You Measure a Year?, The Martha Mitchell Effect and Stranger at the Gate to scoop the trophy. SRK's 'Pathaan' raises Rs 542 crore gross worldwide in first weekend

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's spy thriller "Pathaan" has become the "highest opening weekend" grosser in the history of Hindi cinema with the earnings of Rs 542 crore in five days. According to Yash Raj Films (YRF), in the five-day extended weekend for Republic Day "Pathaan" registered Rs 60.75 crore nett in India (Hindi Rs 58.5 crore, all dubbed versions Rs 2.25 crore), taking the India gross to Rs 70 crore. The overseas gross on day five stands at Rs 42 crore, taking the total collection on its fourth day of release to Rs 112 crore gross. The Siddharth Anand-directed feature, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has recorded Rs 207.2 crore in the overseas territories alone. "At YRF, we are proud that 'Pathaan' is entertaining people across the globe, pulling people to the theatres and giving them an experience of a lifetime!" Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, said in a statement. "The YRF Spy Universe films have also registered blockbusters every single time.
