Inter-State Council reconstituted with PM as chairman; NDA allies included

The Inter-State Council, which works for Centre-State and interstate coordination and cooperation, has been reconstituted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its chairman, all chief ministers and nine Union ministers as members and 13 Union ministers as permanent invitees. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Union ministers belonging to NDA allies Janata Dal (United), Janata Dal (Secular), Telugu Desam Party and Lok Janshakti Party are part of the reconstituted council. Prime Minister Modi will be the chairman, chief ministers of all states and union territories having a legislative assembly and administrators of union territories not having a legislative assembly will be members of the high-powered committee, the notification said. Rizwan Kadri, a member of the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library (PMML) Society, on Sunday said he has written to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to allow physical or digit access to private papers related to former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru that are in her possession. Kadri, 56, who teaches history at a local college in Ahmedabad, said, he has been vocal in the AGM meetings of the PMML Society -- formerly Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) -- for "reclaiming" the papers that were taken back by Gandhi several years ago. Nehru, India's first prime minister, lived at Teen Murti Bhawan in central Delhi, which after his death became the NMML, housing a rich collection of books and rare records. PMBJP achieves generic medicines sales of Rs 1,000 crore this year

The government on Wednesday said the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) achieved a landmark of selling generic medicines worth Rs 1,000 crore this year. A total savings of about Rs 5,000 crore was made by people who purchased medicines from the Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which is present in more than 785 districts across the country, an official release said. Around Rs 25,000 crore have been saved through this scheme in the last nine years and there has been more than 100 times growth in the number of such kendras, which were only 80 in 2014 and have now grown to almost 10,000 covering almost all districts in the country, it added. The government has set a target to open 25,000 Janaushadhi Kendras across the country by March 2026, and online applications have been called for opening of new Janaushadhi Kendras across all districts, the statement said.
