New 'stand fee' for interstate buses at Delhi ISBTs to start from midnight

The new 'stand fee' for interstate buses plying from the ISBTs will start from Saturday midnight, Raj Niwas officials said. These revised charges will be collected only through FASTag based system and no bus will be allowed to enter and operate from the terminal's premises without a FASTag, they added. "New uniform stand fee charges for interstate operation of State Government, AITP and other private buses (with valid permit) will kickstart in from the intervening midnight of September 14 and 15. They will be applicable to all such buses plying from ISBTs at Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan," the official said. As per the new scheme of things, private as well as government interstate buses will be paying the same amount of fee for parking and using the bus bays at ISBT. Currently private buses are charged more, which leads to a situation where they unauthorizedly park and pick passengers on roads outside the ISBT complex, resulting in huge traffic snarls apart from .

Delhi LG directs officials for 'complete makeover' of Kashmere Gate ISBT

Delhi LG VK Saxena on Saturday inspected Kashmere Gate inter-state bus terminal (ISBT) and directed the officials for its "complete makeover" and to reduce massive congestion in the area. Saxena also walked down the Rani Jhansi Road asking officials to remove encroachment and improve the "pathetic" condition of footpaths and central verses, a statement from the LG office said. The LG, during the inspection, was confronted with massive congestion outside ISBT due to the unduly high turnaround time of inter-state buses to and from the bus bays inside the terminal, ranging from 45 minutes to one hour. He was informed that the minimum turnaround time for an inter-state bus was 45-60 minutes, which led to spilling over of buses onto the adjoining roads outside the ISBT, leading to traffic snarls. Jharkhand cabinet gives nod for inter-state bus terminal in Jamshedpur

The Jharkhand cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal for setting up an inter-state bus terminal and WRD office-cum-commercial facilities at Jamshedpur. The facility will come up on 13.7 acre of land near National Highway-33, an official said. The bus terminus will be developed on 7.37 acre of land and the WRD office on 3.81 acre, while the commercial facilities will be built on the remaining land parcel, he said. The cabinet also approved Rs 70.40 crore for the project, which will be developed in public-private-partnership mode, the urban development department official said. The cabinet gave its nod to a proposal for the construction of three critical care health block hospitals in Lohardaga, Khunti and Saraikela Kharswan districts. Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel said each will be a 100-bed facility, and a fund of Rs 52.86 crore has been approved for the construction of the hospital building at Lohardaga, she said.
