IT firms' Rs 10K-cr investment proposal in Tamil Nadu intact, says govt

All the 17 investment projects committed by the IT companies including by Wipro and Cognizant during the Global Investors' Meet (GIM) in 2015 are in progress and the State has seen an increase in terms of IT exports, said Tamul Nadu Minister for Information Technology, M Manikandan. The government signed agreement with the companies in 2015, which has a total investment proposal of Rs 10,985 crore. There has been allegations that no new investment has been announced after the GIM in the sector.Sharing an update on the projects announced as part of the GIM, in September 2015, he said that HCL Corporation, which has signed MoU for Rs 500 crore project in Trichy and Madurai, has completed Rs 150 lakh facility in Madurai and currently has 600 employees. The Phase II is under construction.
