Right-wing group Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena's president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead by unidentified assailants here on Tuesday, police said. According to police, the incident took place in the Shyam Nagar area this afternoon. "As per initial reports, four people entered a house where Gogamedi was present and opened fire at him. One of Gogamedi's security personnel and another person were injured in the firing," Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra told PTI. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph told PTI that Gogamedi was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra on Sunday said that the party respects the people's mandate and would continue to work for them. He also said that the party would convene a meeting of elected legislators in Jaipur on Tuesday. "I am informing all elected legislators. On Tuesday, we would convene a meeting of legislators in Jaipur," Dotasra told reporters as rival BJP was headed for a win in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested an Enforcement Directorate officer, posted in Manipur, and his associate here for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 15 lakh for settling a matter related to a chit fund case, officials said. Those arrested are Naval Kishore Meena, an enforcement officer in the federal probe agency and resident of Vimalpura in Jaipur district, and Babulal Meena, a junior assistant in the Mundawar Sub Registrar Office in the newly formed Kotpulti-Behror district of Rajasthan, the bureau said in a statement. Sources in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that the agency will initiate a probe after lodging a criminal case of money laundering against the officer. Naval Kishore had allegedly demanded Rs 17 lakh in lieu of settling a case lodged in the ED office in Manipur capital Imphal against the complainant in the chit fund matter, the bureau said and added that he is posted at the ED's sub-zonal office in Imphal. Shriram General Insurance has planned to diversify its product portfolio by focusing more on the non-motor segments like marine, fire, during the current financial year, a top official said. Motor insurance has been the core of the business for the Jaipur-based firm accounting to about 92 per cent, company Chief Underwriting Officer Shashi Kant Dahuja said. As part of the diversification plan, the company would launch new insurance products under the fire, marine, engineering segments, he said. "The idea is to double our non-motor business to around 15 per cent in two to three years from the current 7-8 per cent," Dahuja told PTI in an interaction. Communal tension erupted in Ramganj and nearby areas here on Saturday after a man died allegedly due to thrashing by a group of men over an accident between two motorcycles, police said. Two motorbikes collided in Subhash Chowk after which a group of men with one of the two riders thrashed the other rider, Iqbal, late Friday night, police said. He was rushed to SMS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, they said. Several shops in the Muslim-dominated areas were shut down, and family members of the deceased and locals gathered there are demanding action against the other side. Additional forces have been deployed around the area and efforts were being made to diffuse the tension, police said. The Rajasthan Cabinet on Tuesday decided to give financial assistance of Rs 2 to 3 lakh as retirement benefit to part-time contractual employees working in government departments, besides setting-up the state's first 'Gems Bourse' in Jaipur. The decisions were taken in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at his residence. Among its major decisions, the Cabinet also decided to rename the State Animal Welfare Board as Amrita Devi State Animal Welfare Board. According to an official statement, part-time workers will get benefits of up to Rs 3 lakh. The Cabinet has approved the draft of the Rajasthan Part-Time Contractual Hiring Rules-2023. In this, part-time workers will get a financial assistance package of Rs 2 to Rs 3 lakh at the end of their service, it said.
