Congress trying to break collective strength of SC, ST, OBC: PM Modi

The Congress is trying to break the collective strength of SC, ST and OBC by creating divisions among them to weaken their voice and eventually end the reservation for them, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday as he called for unity among these communities. That's why I keep saying ek rahenge, toh safe rahenge (if you remain united, you would be safe)," he said while interacting with BJP workers in Jharkhand under the 'mera booth sabse mazboot' programme through the NaMo app. Modi also highlighted the "failures" of the JMM-Congress-RJD combine's five-year rule and said the state has to be freed from corruption, mafiaism and misrule to put it on the path of progress. The kind of blessings that the BJP is receiving at booth levels, it's clear that the corrupt JMM-led government is set to be ousted, Modi asserted. The countdown has begun, he said. Modi said everyone from the royal family of the Congress -- from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi -- were staunch opponents of the .

BJP's campaign in Jharkhand focused solely on communal polarisation: Cong

The Congress on Monday alleged that the BJP's campaign in Jharkhand is focused solely on communal polarisation, and said it is an indictment of the Union government's performance that the BJP is seeking votes only on religious polarisation after ten years in power. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said on November 13 and 20, the people of Jharkhand will vote decisively for continuity, communal harmony, social justice, and self-dignity. The INDIA coalition's campaign in Jharkhand is centred around its government's achievements in the last five years and its seven guarantees - ranging from enhanced food rations to honorariums for women and new degree colleges in each block, he said. "We are focused on our governance and our vision for a just, inclusive, and prosperous Jharkhand," Ramesh said. "The BJP's campaign is devoid of issues and focused solely on communal polarisation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took part in a 3 km roadshow in Ranchi, the capital of poll-bound Jharkhand, with thousands of people lining both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of their leader. Misleading people: Rajnath attacks Rahul Gandhi for caste census promise

Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for promising of caste census if Congress is voted to power, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday accused the party of misleading people and wondered why it did not carry out the exercise when the grand old party ruled the country. Addressing an election rally in Jharkhand's Khunti, Singh also alleged that the law and order situation in the state has gone from bad to worse because of infiltration from Bangladesh under the patronisation of the JMM-led government. In 2011, a socio-economic caste census was conducted in which around 46 lakh castes, sub-castes and gotras were found. This number was so huge that the report was not even made public at that time. According to the social welfare ministry, there were around 1200 Scheduled Castes (SC), over 750 Scheduled Tribes (ST) and around 2,500 Other Backward Classes (OBCs), the veteran BJP leader said. Referring to Rahul Gandhi, Singh said that a Congress leader is misleading people by claiming to condu

BJP-RSS dividing people, INDIA bloc stands for love: Rahul at J'khand rally

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre, saying its tax structure is designed to "loot the poor". "Indian tax structure is to loot the poor. Adani pays taxes equivalent to you. Dharavi land, worth Rs 1 lakh-crore, is being handed over to him," Gandhi alleged while addressing a rally in Jharkhand's Dhanbad. He also took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging, "PM Modi travels in seaplanes, goes inside the sea, but the poor and women bear the brunt of price rise." Gandhi further alleged that Scheduled Tribes (STs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) constitute 90 per cent of India's population, but they are not represented in government institutions. "We will give to the poor funds equivalent to debt of capitalists waived by PM Modi," said Gandhi.

J'khand polls: India not 'dharmshala' where anyone can settle, says Shivraj

Asserting that "state-sponsored infiltration" was a serious threat to Jharkhand, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said India was not a 'dharmshala' where anyone can come and settle. Addressing an election rally in Ranchi, he accused the JMM-led ruling coalition of patronising infiltrators, and alleged that they were coming to the state, marrying tribal women by "trapping them in the web of illusion". "India is not a dharmshala where anyone can come and settle. Foreign infiltrators pose a grave threat to Jharkhand. This country is ours -- our land, water, forests, rivers, mountains, and fields. We will not let anyone else take those from us," he said. "The JMM-led alliance considers these intruders as its vote bank. In their greed for votes, they are protecting them, getting them enrolled on the voters' list, and helping them get Aadhaar and ration cards. The situation is such that tribal population in Santhal Parganas has come down from 44 per cent to 28 pe

BJP gave 33 of 68 tickets in Jharkhand to political families: Congress

Launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Pariwarwaad' remark, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate on Monday claimed that the BJP itself indulged in dynastic politics, and gave out tickets for 33 of the 68 seats it is contesting in Jharkhand assembly elections to those belonging to political families. The BJP is contesting 68 of the 81 assembly seats in the state, leaving the rest for its allies. PM Modi, during an election rally in Garhwa earlier in the day, said that the JMM, Congress and RJD believe in 'Pariwarwaad' (dynastic politics). Addressing reporters here, Shrinate said, "The BJP in Jharkhand has given 33 out of 68 tickets to those who come from political families. For example, former Union minister Arjun Munda's wife, former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das's daughter-in-law and Champai Soren's son were given tickets. So, the BJP has no right to say anything about 'Pariwarwaad'." She also alleged that the central government is sitting over Jharkhand's Rs

Congress questions PM Modi over promises made to people of Jharkhand

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's poll campaign in Jharkhand, the Congress on Monday asked him about the promises he has made to the people of the state and said he should fulfil them before seeking a single vote. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posed a set of three questions to the PM, reminding him of his promise of setting up the Korba-Lohardaga and Chatra-Gaya railway lines, besides setting of engineering and medical colleges in Jharkhand. Assembly elections in Jharkhand are due in two phases on November 13 and 20, where the BJP is seeking to wrest power from the JMM-Congress combine. "The non-biological PM is in Jharkhand today. Three questions he should answer before seeking a single vote - Where is the Korba-Lohardaga and Chatra-Gaya railway lines," Ramesh asked in a post on X. He said the people of Lohardaga and Chatra have been demanding better rail connectivity for years as it would improve locals' access to education and employment opportunities. "Sadly,

BJP must explain delay in releasing funds for Jharkhand: Congress

The Congress on Sunday said the BJP must give an account for the delay of releasing Rs 1.36 lakh crore to Jharkhand in the form of pending coal royalties before seeking votes from the people. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed the Centre owes Jharkhand lakhs of crores of rupees in coal royalties and central scheme benefits. In Jharkhand, coal mines are operated by subsidiaries of the Coal India Limited which owe huge sums of money to the state government, he claimed.
