Jio Financial Services on Thursday said its subsidiary Jio Leasing Services and its nominees have made an initial investment of Rs 2.50 crore in newly-incorporated Reliance International Leasing IFSC Ltd (RILIL). Incorporated on February 1, RILIL is a 50:50 joint venture between Jio Leasing and Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Ltd, an arm of Reliance Industries. "Jio Leasing Services Ltd (JLSL)... along with its nominees invested an amount of Rs 2.50 crore towards the initial subscription of 25 lakh equity shares of Rs 10 each of RILIL, for cash at par," Jio Financial Services said in a BSE filing. JLSL is a subsidiary of Jio Financial. RILIL will be engaged in the business of operating lease of ships, vessels and voyage charters in International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) located at International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Gujarat. Shares of Jio Financial Services were trading Rs 355.70, up 1.50 per cent from previous close on the BSE.

Jio adds 3.16 mn subscribers in October; Vi loses 2.04 mn: Trai data

India's largest telecom operator Reliance Jio added 31.59 lakh mobile users while rival Bharti Airtel's subscriber gain came in at 3.52 lakh in October 2023, as per monthly subscriber data by TRAI. There was no relief for the troubled telco Vodafone Idea on subscriber front, as it lost 20.44 lakh wireless subscribers in October. With the addition of 31.59 lakh users, Jio's total wireless subscriber count climbed to 45.23 crore in October from 44.92 crore in September. Sunil Mittal-led Airtel's wireless subscriber gain of 3.52 lakh pushed up the telco's user tally to 37.81 crore in October. The subscriber losses of Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) dragged its wireless user base to 22.54 crore in October, the data by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) showed. Cash-strapped VIL has been battling fundraising woes and subscriber losses.

Jio provides voice, data services at Silkyara tunnel within 12 hrs

The Department of Telecom has granted internet service provider licence to Jio Satellite Communications and Bharti Group-backed OneWeb, official sources said on Friday. Both companies were given permits to provide satellite communication services about a year ago. "The companies were issued an ISP (Internet Service Provider) licence recently. They can provide internet services connecting satellite service with terrestrial networks or through VSAT to end customers," an official said. Jio Satellite Communications and OneWeb will need access to spectrum to provide services directly on the consumer terminal on which the decision is still pending.
