Maharashtra govt assures help to Cambata Aviation employees

The Maharashtra government today told the Legislative Council it will everything possible to facilitate the clearance of dues and absorption of 1,400 employees of troubled private ground handler Cambata Aviation. Minister for Labour and Skill Development Sambhaji Patil Nilangekar gave the assurance when members raised the issue in the Upper House during the Question Hour. MLCs Kiran Pawaskar, Hemant Takle, Jayant Patil, Bhai Jagtap and others raised the issue of 2,100 distressed employees of Cambata Aviation. They sought to know the status of pending dues and the issue of absorption of 1,400 of the company's staffers into its principal employer, GVK. Replying to the queries, Patil Nilangekar said the issue falls under the Centre's purview but the the state government had initiated meetings with all stakeholders to facilitate clearance of dues of these employees. Hyderabad woman trafficked to Saudi; family knocks Swaraj's door

Family of a woman in Hyderabad has alleged that she was trafficked to Saudi Arabia on the pretext of job, and appealed to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring her back.As per Nuszath Begum's family, two agents had offered her a job at a hospital in Saudi Arabia, but after reaching there, she was taken to Abha and has since been employed as a maid at a house."The employers there deny her proper food and sleep, and make her work the whole day. Companies invested Rs 3,585 cr in 72 electronics mfg projects

Electronic firms shortlisted for incentives by the government for manufacturing their products in India have invested Rs 3,585 crore in 72 projects till September this year, Parliament was informed today. "As per the reports provided by the applicants approved under MSIPS, as on 30-09-2017, a total of Rs 3,585 crore has been invested in 72 projects resulting in employment generation of 27,804 persons (direct and indirect)," Minister of State for Electronics and IT Alphons Kannanthanam said. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, he said the government has approved 134 applications under Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS) till date. The MSIPS scheme provides subsidy for capital expenditure -- 20 per cent for investments in special economic zones (SEZs) and 25 per cent in non-SEZs. "So far, under the MSIPS scheme, incentives of Rs 122.06 crore have been disbursed to the 11 applicants, out of which, the capex subsidy is Rs 113.94 crore and tax reimbursement is .

Govt in process of hiring 355 cyber security experts

The government today said it is in the process of hiring 355 cyber security professionals for National Informatics Centre. "Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has approved the proposal for creation of 355 posts in National Informatics Centre (NIC) in June, 2017. Necessary action...has already been initiated," Minister of State for electronics and IT Alphons Kannanthanam said in a written reply to Lok Sabha. The proposal for creation of these posts was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security(CSS) in 2013 as part of the approval for Framework for Enhancing Cyber Security.

The Maharashtra Government yesterday amended the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Service Condition) Act, 2017 and issued a notification allowing shops and hotels to be kept open 24 hours. The notification covers hotels, restaurants and malls, but excludes bars, pubs, wine shops and discotheques which currently have restricted timings. "The amendments now allows all shops to remain open in three shifts. It can remain open for 24 hours and all seven days. It is mandatory to give one day leave to employees every week," said Maharashtra labour minister Sambhaji Nilangekar-Patil. The notification has made it clear that smaller establishments do not need to get licences but they must register online with the authority concerned. The amended legislation exempts small and medium-sized establishments which have fewer than 10 workers, or employees working from home, or which are run as online business from registration for a licence. 'Sales, marketing jobs in Hyd fail to attract right talent'

Even as marketing and sales jobs are seeing a growth for suitably skilled professionals, there continues to be a talent mismatch in Hyderabad, making it difficult for employers to hire people, a survey said. Over 38 per cent of marketing and sales job openings in Hyderabad remain unfilled after 60 days, according to a survey by job portal Indeed India. While there is no shortage of active job seekers, there appears to be a mismatch of talent with employers finding it difficult to hire people with the right skills to fill these roles, it added. With the advent of digital marketing and the integrated sales approach, the sector is seeing a rise in demand for suitably skilled professionals in these areas, it said. CPI(M) asks govt to regularise MGNREGA employees in J-K

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today demanded the Jammu and Kashmir government to regularise the contractual MGNREGA employees in the state. The employees under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) have been demanding the government to enhance their basic salary and frame job policy for them. "We urge the government to resolve the demands of contractual employees working under MGNREGA, CPI(M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said. We want them to be regularised at the earliest, he said. Tarigami said that these employees were recruited as per merit still they were working on meager salary. Under new policy, Goa to incentivise industries giving 80%

The Goa government today approved a new industrial policy, which will give incentives to the industries that provide 80 per cent employment to the locals, besides other benefits. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar made this announcement during a Goa Liberation Day event here today. Goa was liberated from 450-year-long Portuguese rule on December 19, 1961. "The industrial policy, which I have approved today will provide benefit to the units employing 80 per cent of the total workforce from Goa. 160 cr man-days generated under MGNREGA in 2017-18: Govt

The government today informed Parliament that 160 crore man-days had been generated under the MGNREGA, so far, in the 2017-18 fiscal. Union Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav said this replying to a query in the Rajya Sabha regarding rural development schemes with employment potential being implemented in the country. During 2017-18, so far, 160 crore man-days of employment has been generated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), he said in a written reply. "Fifty-six lakh households have been mobilised in to 4.84 lakh self help groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna- National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) and 83,745 candidates have been trained under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) of which 46,654 candidates have been placed," the minister said. The healthcare insurance industry needs to develop infrastructure and deliver affordable healthcare to the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, which has a 117 million strong work force, according to a recent report. Country's health insurance penetration is less than 30 per cent of the population covered by any type of health insurance policy in the country, it elaborated. "MSMEs form the larger part of India's unorganized sector, which leaves a majority of the sector's workforce without any social security. No salary for a year, hill council staff auction used goods

Employees of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), who have not received salaries since November 2016, have auctioned their used household goods to make ends meet. Items such as televisions, motorbikes, scooters, utensils, chairs, tables and stoves were auctioned for raising money to pay medical bills and school fees, and to buy essential items, NCHAC Employees Union (NCHACEU) vice-president Joyraj Thaosen said. "We managed to raise Rs 25,000 from the auction. The people are sympathetic to us and many of them donated money. Rs 20,000 came from donation," NCHACEU secretary Hoineikim Changsan said.
