Rain fury: Over 200 people relocated in Hingoli, crops hit in Nanded

More than 200 persons were relocated and nearly 90 others rescued after heavy rains inundated several areas in Hingoli district of Maharashtra's Marathwada region, while over 2 lakh hectares of land under cultivation got affected in neighbouring Nanded district. Heavy rains have been pounding parts of the Marathwada region, comprising eight districts, since Sunday. At least four persons have lost their lives in rain-related incidents so far. According to officials, 45 revenue circles in Nanded district were affected by the downpour. Crops on more than 2 lakh hectares were affected and 25 animals were reported dead. Crops in Nanded city, Ardhapur, Hadgaon, Degloor, Mudkhed, Kandhar, Loha and Naigaon were badly damaged due to the rains, they said. The crop loss survey will be undertaken after the rain stops, Nanded collector Abhijit Raut said in a release. After 7 years, circle rates of lands in Ayodhya set to rise in Sept

After seven years, the circle rate of land in the Sadar tehsil of Ayodhya district will be raised by up to 200 per cent from next month, officials here said on Friday. After the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya earlier this year, the land prices in the temple town have witnessed an increase at a fast pace. Investors, real estate companies and big hotel chains are purchasing lands in Ayodhya. Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal said, "Notice for the increase of circle rate has been published and the exact circle rate will be issued in the first week of next month". According to a notice at the District Collectorate here, after September 4, the district administration will release the new circle rate, the procedure for which has been completed. Journalist among 14 held for grabbing govt land worth Rs 1,000 cr in Kanpur

Fourteen people, including a TV journalist, have been arrested on charges of grabbing government land having a market value of over Rs 1,000 crore, police said on Monday. Journalist Avneesh Dixit and others were arrested on Sunday after they were named in complaints lodged by the revenue officer and Samuel Gurudev Singh, to whom the land had been leased, they said. Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Harish Chandra said Dixit has been arrested and FIRs have been registered at Kotwali police station in the matter. Efforts are being made to nab other accused. The FIRs have been lodged under sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 74 (criminal force to any woman intending to outrage modesty), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 191(2) (rioting), 308(5) (extortion), 310(2) (dacoity), 324(4) (mischief causes loss), 329(4) (house trespass), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property .

Greater Noida board hikes land allocation rates by 5.30% for FY25

The board of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) on Saturday approved a proposal to increase land allocation rates by 5.30 per cent for 2024-25 fiscal, according to an official statement. Several developmental projects, including the Greater Noida West Metro, Multimodal Logistics Hub, and Transport Hub, are coming to Greater Noida and Greater Noida West (also known as Noida Extension), the GNIDA said. "In view of these developmental projects, property allocation rates are determined for each financial year. The board has approved the proposal to increase the current allocation rates for industrial, residential, commercial, institutional, and builder properties by 5.30 per cent for the fiscal year 2024-25," it said. "The finance department will soon issue an office order in this regard. The new rates will be considered effective from April 1," the GNIDA said, describing the 5.30 per cent rate hike as "modest". Land deals on upswing; 721 acres closed in Jan-Mar: Anarock report

Builders and other entities have closed at least 29 land deals involving 721 acres during January-March this year to expand their businesses amid surge in demand especially for housing, according to Anarock. During the entire 2023-24 fiscal, property consultant Anarock said that real estate developers and other entities have closed 101 land deals, cumulatively accounting for 2,989 acres. Land deals in terms of acres have increased 61 per cent annually in January-March 2024 and 58 per cent annually in 2023-24. At least 26 land deals for around 449 acres were closed during January-March 2023, while 88 land deals for 1,886 acres were struck during the full 2022-23 fiscal. These land deals, which were struck across major tier I, tier II and tier III cities, include outright purchase-sale transactions and also partnerships with landlords called Joint Development Agreements (JDAs). Omaxe Group acquires over 5 acres of 'prime' land in Ludhiana for Rs 220 cr

Realty firm Omaxe Group on Tuesday said it has acquired over 5 acres of land in Ludhiana, Punjab for Rs 220 crore. In a statement, Omaxe said it has "secured more than 5 acres of prime land... through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA)." The acquisition was finalised at a bidding amount of Rs 220 crore, it added. Omaxe will develop both residential and commercial projects on this land parcel.
