Luxury carmakers Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Audi expect sales momentum to continue in the ongoing festive season with demand remaining robust for high-end cars. With offtake remaining strong, the festive season push could even see the luxury car segment posting its highest ever volumes in a year in 2023. In an interaction with PTI, Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer noted that the festive season looks very promising as compared with last year. "This year the festive season is spread across four months and we are optimistic as we started on a very positive note, from Onam onwards," he stated. Luxury carmaker Lexus from next year is looking to foray into the used car business in India, having now completed six years in the market, according to a top company official. The Japanese carmaker, which currently sells its product range through 23 touch points, aims to transition some of the sales outlets to also cater to the pre-owned car vertical. Known for its self-charging hybrid cars, Lexus is now gearing up to roll out its first electric model in the country by 2025. In an interaction with PTI, Lexus India President Naveen Soni said the automaker is now seriously considering the introduction of a structured pre-owned car programme. He noted that the company will initiate the programme in select outlets after taking into account the business viability of the dealer partner. Luxury carmaker Lexus India on Friday said it will increase prices of ES 300h sedan range by up to 2 per cent from next month in order to offset rise in input costs. In a statement, Lexus India President Naveen Soni said the current circumstances require the automaker to raise prices of the model. "As a part of our commitment to excellence and despite our best efforts to mitigate the effects, the current circumstances require us to raise the prices for the Lexus ES 300h luxury sedan," he noted. Lexus India would like to assure its valued customers that the company is trying its best to minimise such hikes, against various cost pressures, Soni said. "This price adjustment is purely for the Lexus ES 300h and will be effective beginning July 1, 2023," he added. The ES 300h range starts from Rs 62 lakh (ex-showroom). Lexus India on Thursday said it has launched announced the new LC 500H Luxury Coupe in the country priced at Rs 2.39 crore (ex-showroom). The company said the model now comes with all new instrument panels to the layout of the centre console, among others.
