Haryana CM Khattar's ancestral house in Banyani to be turned into e-library

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday announced he would hand over his ancestral house in Banyani in Rohtak district to the village for setting up an e-library for children. Khattar reached his native village in the morning. Talking to reporters, the chief minister said, "I have come to my village. This village is special to me as I spent my entire childhood and did my schooling from here". "I thought my ancestral house should be of some use to the village. Today, I have made an announcement. Along with this house, in the neighbourhood, there is also a house of my cousin. The whole property is about 200 square yards which I have handed over to the village so that villagers can open an e-library and use it for other purposes for the benefit of children," Khattar said. The chief minister also took stock of developmental works being carried out in the village.

TN CM pays tribute to late leader Kamaraj on his birth anniversary

DU sanctions Rs 110 cr for expansion of central library: VC Singh

Delhi University vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh on Tuesday said the varsity has sanctioned a fund of Rs 110 crore for the expansion of its central library and construction work will commence soon. Parliament library with assistive tech accessible to visually challenged

Visually challenged people will now have easier access to the vast repository of resources in the parliament library which is now equipped with necessary assistive technologies, officials said. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday inaugurated special facilities that provide visually challenged people access to more than 1.7 million publications and resources in the library, they said. Birla took the initiative after he found that visually impaired people were facing difficulty in accessing the library for want of digital visual aids. After consultations with institutes and domain experts, the Lok Sabha Secretariat procured necessary hardware and software to assist such people to access library resources, officials said. Mobile library equipped with laptops, internet inaugurated for MCD schools

A mobile library equipped with laptops, internet connectivity and a wide range of digital resources for primary students of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools was inaugurated on Wednesday. The mobile library bus was inaugurated in the presence of the director of the municipal body's education department at an MCD school in Vishwakarma Nagar. It has been donated by Chegg India in collaboration with SEEDS, a non-profit organisation. Budget: Govt to set up National Digital Library for children, adolescents

A National Digital Library for children and adolescents will be set up for facilitating the availability of quality books across geographies, languages, genres and levels, and device agnostic accessibility, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Wednesday. In her Budget speech, she said states will be encouraged to set up physical libraries for them at panchayat and ward levels and provide infrastructure for accessing the National Digital Library resources. To build a culture of reading and to make up for pandemic-time learning loss, the National Book Trust, Children's Book Trust and other sources will be encouraged to provide and replenish non-curricular titles in regional languages and English to these physical libraries. "Collaboration with NGOs that work in literacy will also be a part of this initiative. To inculcate financial literacy, financial sector regulators and organizations will be encouraged to provide age-appropriate reading material to these libraries,"
