LS poll result: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, four of his family win seats in UP

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav along with four other members of his family won their respective seats as the party established its itself as the largest one in Uttar Pradesh by winning 36 seats and leading in one. Akhilesh Yadav defeated his rival Subrat Pathak of the BJP by a margin of 1,70,922 votes. His wife Dimple Yadav won the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat while Dharmendra Yadav secured a victory in Azamgarh by comfortable margins. Akshay Yadav and Aditya Yadav also won from Firozabad and Badaun. Dimple Yadav defeated her nearest rival BJP's Jaiveer Singh by a margin of 2,21,639 votes. She polled 5,98,526 votes, Singh got 3,76,887 while BSP candidate Shiv Prasad Yadav bagged 66,814 votes. In Azamgarh, Dharmendra Yadav defeated his nearest rival Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua of the BJP by a margin of 1,61,035 votes. LS election result 2024: BJP-led alliance suffers jolt in Maharashtra

The BJP suffered a setback in Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra on Tuesday, with its tally dwindling by less than half compared to 2019, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) was on a roll, set to pocket 30 of the 48 seats. The BJP-led NDA fell significantly short of its target of bagging 45-plus seats in Maharashtra, going by the results and latest trends in counting of votes till 11.40 pm. The BJP won nine seats, a far cry from the 23 it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls in the state. Its ally Shiv Sena won seven seats. Another ally, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP bagged a seat, but his wife Sunetra Pawar faced defeat in Baramati from Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar. Lok Sabha polls: TMC candidates Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad bag victories

Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha won from the Asansol Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal on Tuesday, the ECI said. The TMC leader defeated his nearest rival S S Ahluwalia of the BJP by a margin of 59,564 votes. Sinha secured 6,05,645 votes, while Ahluwalia garnered 5,46,081 votes. Cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad defeated his nearest rival Dilip Ghosh of the BJP by 1,37,981 votes in Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat. Azad, the TMC candidate, secured 7,20,667 votes, while Ghosh, a former state BJP president, got 5,82,686 votes. Speaking to reporters, Sinha said, "This is Mamata Banerjee's win. I will try my best to address the issues in the constituency. I had earlier said Mamata ji will be a game-changer and TMC will sweep Bengal." Sinha, the sitting MP, alleged that the exit polls were "fabricated to misguide voters".
