Lulu Group to set up food processing, logistics centres in Andhra Pradesh

UAE-based Lulu Group International will set up modern food processing and logistic centres in Andhra Pradesh along with hypermarkets and a shopping mall in the state, its Chairman and Managing Director Yusuffali MA said on Sunday. In a post on social media platform X in response to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's post after their meeting, Yusuffali said, "Our discussions were very fruitful." "We have decided to start an international-standard shopping mall with 8-screen imax multiplex in Vizag, state-of-the-art Hypermarkets in Vijayawada and Tirupati along with modern Food Processing and Logistic Centers in Andhra Pradesh," he wrote. Lulu Group aiming to up agri sourcing from India to Rs 15,000 cr in 2 yrs

UAE-headquartered retailer Lulu Group is looking to increase the quantum of Indian agri procurements to Rs 15,000 crore in the next two years as it expands its network globally, a top company official said on Tuesday. Its Chairman and Managing Director M A Yusuff Ali told reporters that the company plans to have a special focus on the organic good procurement and sees the value of such goods going up to Rs 2,000 crore in a year. "About Rs 10,000 crore imports (of agri products) we are doing every year. We are looking to increase it to Rs 15,000 crore within two years because we are also expanding our footprint in many countries," he said. The imports primarily include commodities such as fruits, vegetables, rice, tea, sugar, spice and millets, he said, pointing out that the produce goes to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and other far-east countries. Lulu Group announces Rs 5 lakh each for those killed in Kuwait incident

Prominent NRI businessman and Chairman of UAE-based Lulu Group on Thursday announced Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased in the tragic Kuwait fire tragedy, which left 49 persons, including 45 Indians, dead. At least 49 foreign workers were killed and 50 others injured in the fire on Wednesday at the seven-storey building where 196 migrant workers were staying in the southern city of Mangaf. A sum of Rs. 5 lakh for each of the families of the deceased will be paid as part of this relief fund, a statement released by the group in Abu Dhabi said. The central government as well as the Kerala government have also announced similar relief funds. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh reached Kuwait on Thursday and met some of the Indians injured in the fire. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said all those injured were safe.

APEDA inks pact with Lulu Hypermarket for export promotion of agri-products

Commerce ministry's arm APEDA has inked a pact with UAE-based global retail major Lulu Hypermarket to promote Indian agri-products in the Gulf countries, an official statement said on Monday. With this memorandum of understanding (MoU), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) would promote Indian agricultural products, including millets across the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) member countries as the LuLu Group has its presence across these nations besides in Egypt and the Far East. The Group is the fastest-growing retail chain in the Middle East and Asia. Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are the members of the GCC. UAE-based Lulu Group will be investing Rs 10,000 crore in India on various ongoing projects over the next three years and the UAE-based conglomerate has already invested over Rs 20,000 crore in the country, Lulu Chairman Yusuff Ali MA said here on Monday. He also said his aim is to provide employment to 50,000 people in India and added that so far his various enterprises have employed over 22,000 people. Lulu Group to invest Rs 3k cr to set up India's biggest mall at Ahmedabad

UAE-based billionaire Yussuf Ali's Lulu Group International is entering Gujarat, where it would invest Rs 3,000 crore to set up India's biggest shopping mall at Ahmedabad, a company official said. The construction of the Rs 3,000-crore shopping mall, which would have all modern facilities, will start early next year, said Lulu Group Director of Marketing and Communications V Nandakumar. This would be Lulu Group's third shopping mall in the country after Kochi, (Kerala) and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and provide direct employment to 6,000 people and indirect employment to over 12,000 in the state, he added.
