Geospatial artificial intelligence and machine learning based models will soon be used to monitor air quality in key Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata, a senior scientist said on Thursday. Highlighting the increased use of mathematical modelling tools in India, ISRO chair professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies P G Diwakar emphasised the importance of linking sustainable development goals and air pollution indicators. Diwakar was speaking at the India Clean Air Summit (ICAS) 2023 organised by the Centre for Air Pollution Studies (CAPS) at the Center for Study of Science, Technology, and Policy (CSTEP) in Bengaluru. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Thursday said the best of artificial intelligence and machine learning will be deployed at Air India and emphasised that the airline is not just another business for the group but a passion and a national mission. Generative AI deals expected in 2 quarters; will not be mega wins: TCS CEO

The country's largest IT services company TCS is expecting some generative artificial intelligence- (AI) based deals in the next two quarters, but their sizes will not be big, its top official said on Thursday. Those deals will not be over USD 1 billion, TCS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director K Krithivasan told PTI during an interview here. Each organisation will spin out a number of deals, but there may not be a single billion dollar kind of deal in generative AI, Krithivasan said, adding that at present, every organisation is tinkering to assess the possibilities of the new technology. Courses including artificial intelligence and machine learning are being considered for inclusion in college curricula in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Sunday. At a programme in Government College Hamirpur, he said the state government is introducing new technical courses in technical educational institutions to create better employment opportunities for the youth. Stressing the need for a radical change in the educational system to enable the students to compete with those studying in the world class institutions, he said Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools will be established in each assembly constituency in a phased manner.
