Maruti Suzuki's Alto crosses cumulative sales milestone of 4 million units

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) on Thursday said its entry level small car Alto has crossed the cumulative sales milestone of 40 lakh units. Launched in September 2000, Alto has been the best most selling car for 16 consecutive years in India, the company said in a statement "Alto is the preferred choice of Indian car buyers with 76 per cent of Alto customers choosing it as their first car," it added. Commenting on the feat, MSIL Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) Shashank Srivastava said,"Alto has been ranked as the No 1 selling car in India for 16th year in a row and we are immensely proud to announce another remarkable milestone of 40 lakh cumulative sales. This has become a sales record never achieved by any other Indian car." Maruti launches new version of Alto 800, price starts at Rs 2.93 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said Tuesday it has launched a new version of its entry-level hatchback Alto 800, priced between Rs 2.93 lakh and Rs 3.71 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The model, which has been the country's best selling model for 15 consecutive years, now comes with BS-VI emission norms compliant petrol engine, additional safety features and new design. Therefore, the price of the model has gone up by at least Rs 30,000 in Delhi as compared with the outgoing version. "With cumulative sales of over 3.7 million since its launch in 2000, Alto has been a symbol of pride for Indian car users. Nearly 58 per cent of Alto customers have chosen it as their first car purchase," MSI Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) RS Kalsi said. Maruti Alto crosses 3.5 mn cumulative sales mark, gains 33% market share

Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today said its highest selling model Alto has crossed the 35 lakh cumulative sales milestone. Brand Alto has clocked a growth rate of 6 per cent in 2017-18, MSI said in a statement, adding that it has garnered a market share of 33 per cent in the ongoing fiscal. The Alto has been the highest selling car in the domestic market for the past fourteen years, it said. "In 2017-18, nearly 55 per cent of customers have selected Alto as their first car purchase. Interestingly, 25 per cent of Alto buyers are buying it as an additional car, MSI Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) R S Kalsi said. Nearly 44 per cent of Alto sales contribution comes from young customers less than 35 years of age. This contribution has grown 4 per cent in the past three years, the company said. In August, Dzire had beaten Alto for the first time clocking sales of 26,140 units as against 21,521 of Alto. It again beat Alto in September sales.
