Members of 22 milk producer cos pledge to boost milk output: NDDB

Lakhs of dairy farming members of 22 milk producer companies on Thursday pledged to boost milk production for increasing India's share in the global output, NDDB Dairy Services said. On the World Milk Day being celebrated on Thursday across various states, lakhs of dairy farmers and their families committed themselves towards making India the 'Dairy of the World', NDDB Dairy Services (NDS) said in a statement. Out of 22 Milk Producer Companies (MPCs) supported by NDS, 15 have all-women members and all the producer directors on their boards too are women. These 22 MPCs spread across 130 districts in 9 states, have 8.7 lakh members and 71 per cent of them are women. Himachal CM announces Rs 250 cr for Dhagwar milk processing plant

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday said that Rs 250 crore will be invested to upgrade the facilities of the Dhagwar milk processing plant in Kangra district. The state government aims to collect milk from cattle herders and sell milk products to boost the rural economy, he said during a visit to the milk plant. In line with this objective, the government is launching the 'Him-Ganga' scheme, which focuses on developing a milk-based economy in the state. Under the 'Him-Ganga' scheme, cattle rearers will receive fair prices for their milk and milk products, based on actual costs. Efforts will be made to enhance the quality and efficiency of milk procurement, processing, and marketing systems. The government aims to safeguard milk producers, especially vulnerable sections of society, from regional and seasonal price fluctuations. Himachal govt proposes to impose Rs 10 milk cess on liquor bottles

The Himachal Pradesh government in the budget for 2023-24 has proposed to impose a Rs 10 milk cess on liquor bottles sold in the state, which is expected to fetch Rs 100 crore every year to the state exchequer. India's milk production rises 5% to 221.06 mn tonnes in FY22: Centre

India's milk production rose 5 per cent in 2021-22 to 221.06 million tonnes, the government said on Wednesday. Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying Parshottam Rupala on Wednesday unveiled an annual publication 'Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2022'. The Minister congratulated Animal Husbandry's Statistics Division for coming out with this publication. He said the book has become an important source of information in the field of livestock, according to an official statement. "Total milk production in the country during 2021-22 is 221.06 million tonnes," the statement said. In 2021-22, the milk production has registered an annual growth rate of 5.29 per cent. Top five major milk-producing states are Rajasthan (15.05%), Uttar Pradesh (14.93%), Madhya Pradesh (8.06%), Gujarat (7.56%) and Andhra Pradesh (6.97%). NDDB, Amul to provide tech support to boost milk production in Sri Lanka

India will provide technical support to Sri Lanka to enhance its dairy industry and milk output, a move aimed at reducing the cash-strapped country's dependence on imported milk products, the Sri Lankan President's Office said on Monday. Officials of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets milk under the Amul brand, have taken steps to provide necessary technical support for the production of milk in Sri Lanka, the President's Media Division said in a statement.
