Ahead of farmers' march, Haryana suspends mobile internet in Ambala

Hours before the resumption of the farmers' protest march to Delhi from the Shambhu border, the Haryana government on Saturday suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services in 12 villages in Ambala district to maintain "public peace". The suspension will remain in force till December 17, according to an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Sumita Misra said. "It has been brought to my notice by additional director general of police, CID, Haryana and deputy commissioner, Ambala that in view of the call for Delhi Kooch given by certain farmers' organisations, there is an apprehension of causing tension, annoyance, agitation, damage of public and private property and disturbance of public peace and tranquillity in the area of districts Ambala," the order said. Manipur govt extends suspension of mobile internet for three more days

The Manipur government on Wednesday extended suspension of mobile internet services for three more days in seven districts, according to an order. Amid escalating violence, the administration suspended the services on November 16 for two days to prevent anti-social elements from spreading content that might create law and order problems. It had been extended for two more days on Monday. The state government after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation decided to continue suspension of mobile internet services in the territorial jurisdiction of Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi of Manipur for another three days," it said. On November 16, the administration imposed the suspension on both broadband and mobile internet services. However, it lifted the restriction on broadband services on Tuesday, considering the hardships faced by common people, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and other offices.

Mobile internet to be disabled in Assam for 8 hours on Sept 29 for job test

For the second time in September, mobile internet services in Assam will be disabled for eight hours on Sunday to prevent malpractices during the written examination for a recruitment test to Grade III posts. Mobile internet services suspended in some parts of Haryana's Ambala

The Haryana government on Tuesday announced that mobile internet services and bulk SMS will remain suspended at certain places in Ambala district from February 28 to February 29 in view of the ongoing farmers' "Delhi Chalo" agitation. The fresh decision came two days after the mobile internet and bulk SMS were restored in seven districts, including Ambala. According to Tuesday's decision, the services will remain suspended in the jurisdiction of Sadar Ambala, Panjokhera and Naggal police stations in Ambala. It shall remain in force from February 28 (00.01 hrs) to February 29 (23:59 hrs), according to the order. Farmers' protest: Mobile internet services restored in 7 Haryana districts

Mobile internet services were restored in seven Haryana districts on Sunday, almost two weeks after they were suspended in the wake of farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' agitation, officials said. The services were suspended in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa on February 11 and the suspension was extended on February 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24. Officials said no fresh order has been issued to extend the suspension of the mobile services in the seven districts. According to an earlier order issued by the Home Department, the curbs were imposed "to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in jurisdictions of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa, including Dabwali, districts in Haryana". Mobile internet restored in Rajouri-Poonch after week-long suspension

Mobile Internet services were restored in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Rajouri districts a week after being suspended following a terror attack on two army vehicles, officials said. Mobile internet services restored in Manipur after over four months

Mobile internet services, which were suspended as ethnic violence erupted in Manipur in early May, were restored after over four months from Saturday. The services resumed hours after Chief Minister N Biren Singh made an announcement in this regard in the morning. He also called for the cancellation of the free movement regime that allows people residing close to both sides of the India-Myanmar border to venture 16 km deep into each other's territory without any document. Mobile internet to be suspended in Assam on Sunday for exam in govt depts

Mobile internet services in several districts of Assam will be suspended for four hours for the second time this month on Sunday for conducting free and fair written examination for grade III posts of various government departments. Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC have also been clamped near the examination centres to further strengthen security measures.
