Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday claimed the BJP, according to an internal survey of the RSS, will not win even 200 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls and won't cross even eight seats in the state. Accusing Union Home Minister Amit Shah of "lying", for his recent statement alleging delay on the part of the state government in submission of a proposal to the Centre seeking drought relief, he said Shah should have been the "Minister of misinformation". "RSS' internal survey says they (BJP) won't get even 200 seats. RSS is saying it. In the state, they won't cross even eight seats. How will they win, in fourteen to fifteen seats there is internal fighting (in BJP)," Kharge claimed. Speaking to reporters here, he said several senior BJP leaders are even speaking about the need to cleanse the party. "They (some BJP leaders) are saying that the BJP (in the state) is polluted because of one family. They are saying they want to reinstall the original BJP. Are we (Congres

World faces same problems that have existed for thousands of years: Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said despite the world's material progress, it continues to face the same problems that have existed for thousands of years. He said the solution to all problems lies in the ancient Indian concept of 'dharma' or 'spiritual oneness'. Bhagwat made these remarks at the inaugural session of the 8th International Conference and Gathering of Elders, organised by the International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS), a non-profit organisation dedicated to spiritual masters of ancient traditions and cultures. The conference will continue till February 1. Bhagwat pointed out that despite advancements in education and technology, wars still happen and there is a lack of peace both externally and internally. He highlighted the issues of ego, whether at an individual or community level, and the narrowness of mind. He also criticised those who claim to be above such tendencies but end up creating another group for themselves. According to Bhagwat, efforts have

Were extremists across the border involved in Manipur violence: Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday asked if extremists across the border were involved in Manipur violence. For many years, Meitei and Kuki communities have been living together. How did the violence erupt all of a sudden? The conflict benefits external forces. Are external factors involved, Bhagwat said, while addressing the RSS Dussehra rally in Nagpur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was there for three days. Who actually fueled the conflict? It (violence) is not happening, it is being made to happen, Bhagwat said. The RSS chief said he was proud of the Sangh workers who worked in Manipur to restore peace. Some anti-social people call themselves cultural Marxists or woke but they have forgotten Marx, he said. Bhagwat cautioned against attempts to garner votes by inflaming emotions ahead of 2024 general elections. He asked people to vote keeping in mind unity, integrity, identity and development of the country.

'Bharat' has been secular nation for 5,000 years: RSS chief Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday said 'Bharat' has been a secular nation for 5,000 years and called upon people to remain united and present the best example of human behaviour before the world. Addressing an event organised to launch a book, 'Prithvi Sookta - An Ode To Mother Earth', authored by senior RSS functionary Ranga Hari, Bhagwat appealed to people to have devotion, love and dedication for their motherland, saying, "We consider motherland as an essential component of our national unity." "Our 5,000-year-old culture is secular... In all 'tatva gyan' (knowledge of elements), this is the conclusion. The whole world is one family, this is our feeling. This is not a theory... know it, realise and then behave accordingly," the RSS chief said. "There is so much diversity in the country. Don't fight with each other. Make your country capable of teaching the world that we are one," he said, adding this is the sole purpose of India's existence. Bhagwat said seers created 'Bharat

Swach Bharat Abhiyan had profound impact on temples: RSS chief Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swacch Bharat Abhiyan' for having a profound impact on temples and their cleanliness quotient. Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day International Temples Convention and Expo (ITCX) 2023 here, he asserted that cleanliness is an extremely critical aspect of temple management as places of worship are also a "symbol of purity". A huge and extremely critical aspect of temple management is cleanliness because temples are a symbol of purity. Definitely, with the prime minister's Swacch Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India), there has been a great effect on temples as well. However, with the International Temple Convention, we seek to achieve this on a deeper level in every temple in the world -- small or big," Bhagwat said. "We need to pass on the legacy of temple service to the next generation for which education and awareness on temple ecosystems is important. In view of the same, we need to solidify every aspec

Missionaries take advantage when people lose faith in society: Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said missionaries take advantage of the situations wherein people feel the society is not with them, in an apparent reference to religious conversions. He was addressing an event on Sunday in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district, where he dedicated to the people the samadhi of Govindnath Maharaj. "We don't see our own people. We don't go to them and ask them. But some missionary from thousands of miles away comes and lives there, eats their food, speaks their language and then converts them," Bhagwat said. Over the course of 100 years, people came to India to change everything, he said. They have been working here for centuries, but failed to gain anything as our roots remained strong thanks to the efforts of our ancestors, Bhagwat said. "Efforts are made to uproot them. So, the society should understand that deceit. We have to strengthen the faith," he said. Deceptive people raise some questions about religion to waver the

India formed for welfare of world, research knowledge and share it: Bhagwat

India was formed for the welfare of the world and the country must share its knowledge as a duty amid its rise in strength and prestige, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday. Addressing a gathering at Gujarat University here, Bhagwat asked Indians to shed their doubts and lack of belief in the country's ancient knowledge system and instead carry out research to find out what is relevant and share it with all. "Our nation was formed because of the penance of our forefathers, who wanted the world's welfare. That is why it is our duty (to share knowledge)," Bhagwat said after launching 1,051 volumes of the ancient Indian knowledge system and related subjects prepared by Punarutthan Vidyapeeth, an Ahmedabad-based and RSS-linked think tank. Even as India's strength and prestige increases globally, it is required from us that we review our knowledge system as well as those existing in the world to "find new levels of knowledge and offer it to the world", he ...

India progressing, but northern, western borders not so safe: RSS' Bhagwat

India was progressing economically but its western and northern borders were not so safe that people can sleep peacefully, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said at an event here on Friday. Though he did not take names, it was apparently a reference to Pakistan, with which India shares a border on the west, and China. "Our country is today progressing. It is also gaining reputation, heft and wealth. The spread of patriotism among the people is evident and that is the reason we have got leadership (presidency) of the G20, However, there are many challenges," Bhagwat said at the RSS event. "Our western and northern borders are not so safe that we can sleep peacefully. Our soldiers have to remain awake and we (citizens) also have to remain awake," he added. Those with vested interests are trying to slander India in many ways while we are progressing, and there was need to fight "intellectual battles" with such forces, the RSS chief asserted. Hindu spiritual community in South does more than missionaries: Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said social service by Hindi spiritual gurus in the southern states was several times more than that provided by missionaries, but added that this is not a matter of competition. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a three-day conclave of the Rashtriya Sewa Sangam organised by a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh affiliate at Keshav Vidhyapeeth in Jamdoli near Jaipur. Bhagwat said intellectuals in the country generally mention (Christian) missionaries when talking about service to society. "Missionary organisations run various institutions, schools and hospitals all over the world everyone knows this. But what is the Hindu seer community doing? With this thought in mind, a Hindu service fair was held in Chennai, he said. It was noticed there that the service done by the acharyas, munis and sanyasis in Kannada-speaking, Telugu-speaking, Malayalam-speaking and Tamil-speaking provinces is many times more than the service done by the missionaries,
