Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani draws nil salary for 4th yr in a row

Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani drew nil salary from his oil-to-telecom-and-retail conglomerate Reliance Industries for the fourth straight year in a row while his children earned a sitting fee and a commission for being on the board of India's most valuable company. Ambani, 67, had capped his annual remuneration at Rs 15 crore from financial year 2008-09 (April 2008 to March 2009) to 2019-20 (FY20); and since FY21, he opted to forego his salary, due to COVID-19 pandemic, until the company and all its businesses were fully back to their earnings potential. In 2023-24, he got 'nil' as salary, allowances, and perquisites as well as retiral benefits, according to the latest annual report of the company. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani has been ranked first among all Indians and second globally in the Brand Guardianship Index 2024 compiled by Brand Finance. The chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd overtakes the likes of Microsoft's Satya Nadella, and Google's Sundar Pichai to be ranked No.2 globally only behind Tencent's Huateng Ma. Antilia bomb case: NIA declines support to former cop's plea seeking pardon

The National Investigation Agency on Thursday opposed the plea of former policeman Sunil Mane seeking to turn approver in the case pertaining to the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence and the subsequent murder of Mansukh Hiran. The federal agency in its written response filed before the special NIA court here said it is crystal clear that the applicant (Mane) is directly involved in the crime of this case along with the co-accused and it cannot support his plea. In a handwritten application sent to the court last month, Mane said that he had realised his mistake and that the court should consider his outstanding service record and give him a chance to repent his mistake by granting pardon. Mane was arrested by the NIA in April 2021 and is currently in judicial custody.
