In a first in the history of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Governor RN Ravi on Monday concluded his customary address to the House within a few minutes, asserting he disagreed with the government over the content of the address and flayed the DMK regime for 'not respecting' the national anthem. Special session: Din in Lok Sabha after national anthem played before time

An abrupt halt to the playing of the national anthem in the Lok Sabha on Monday drew protests from the opposition benches, prompting an intervention by Speaker Om Birla. The audio systems in the House beamed national anthem even before the Speaker had assumed his chair. The gaffe was soon noticed and the national anthem was stopped mid-way. BJP accuses Kejriwal of 'dishonouring' national anthem, official denies

The Delhi BJP on Monday attacked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he "dishonoured" the national anthem by not waiting to take part in its recital at an event here. A Delhi government official, however, denied the charge saying that the programme was still underway and the chief minister had to leave due to some urgent work. The recital of the national anthem was to take place at the end of the event, he added. The prosecution claimed on Tuesday that no sanction was needed to pursue a criminal case against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly disrespecting the national anthem as the incident had taken place during a 'political' visit and not an official one.
