GX group aims for 60% reusable materials in products within two years: CEO

Broadband equipment maker GX Group has set a target to use 60 per cent reusable material across all its products over the next two years, a top company official said. GX Group CEO Paritosh Prajapati told PTI that India is poised to become the second-largest fibre broadband market globally with 110 million active fibre lines by 2030, which poses a rising challenge in managing the environmental impact of telecom infrastructure. "India's climate action goals, which aim for net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the European Union mandates stringent emissions controls on imports, and similar rules are also expected to be in India. Govt formulating new broadcast policy to regulate OTTs: Minister Murugan

The Centre is formulating a new broadcast policy following complaints that the Over-The-Top platforms are not adhering to self-regulatory practices, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, L Murugan said on Wednesday. At an event here, Murugan said the government was holding 'detailed conversations' with various stakeholders to allow private FM radio channels to broadcast news bulletins in addition to the service rendered by All India Radio. Editors Guild calls draft Broadcast Services (Regulation) Bill 'vague'

The Editors Guild of India (EGI) has said the draft Broadcast Services (Regulation) Bill circulated by the government is "vague and excessively intrusive". In a letter to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, the Guild said the new bill would prove "adverse to the spirit of freedom of speech and freedom of the press guaranteed by the Constitution" and lay the ground for the creation of an "overarching censorship framework" through the establishment of a broadcast advisory council. Outlining four major concerns, the Guild said the bill would result in an "overbearing system of self-regulation" mandating the creation of content evaluation committees in a manner that allows the government to have a greater degree of control on those committees.
