Nepal are always tough when they play against us: Sunil Chhetri

Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri is expecting a tough outing in their two upcoming friendly internationals against Nepal. India are scheduled to play Nepal on September 2 and September 5 in two away games. "This is an excellent opportunity for us to improve as a team. Given the current circumstances, it wasn't easy to get a friendly game," Chhetri told the All India Football Federation. "The Nepal federation and government invited us to play, and we thank them for the opportunity and the gesture. "Nepal are a very tough side, especially when they play against us, and we are aware of the extreme challenge the two matches present us," he added. Other than Chhetri, Pritam Kotal and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, none of the players of the current team have been to Nepal with the senior side. Global coronavirus update: Nepal's Covid-19 death toll crosses 10,000-mark

Nepal's coronavirus death toll crossed the 10,000-mark, as the country recorded 25 fresh virus-related deaths on Friday, according to official data. In the last 24 hours, Nepal reported 3,729 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 777,589, said the Ministry of Health and Population in its daily statement. The death toll stands at 10,019. In the same period, 1,885 people recovered from the disease. A total of 9,493 Polymerase Chain Reaction tests and 6,182 antigen tests were conducted on Friday. There are currently 34,942 active COVID-19 cases at various care institutions in the country.

Nepal's government on Thursday recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to summon the new session of the House of Representatives on July 18, according to a Cabinet minister. A Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba made the decision to summon the meeting of the reinstated House on July 18, Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand told reporters. This would be the first meeting of the 275-member lower house of parliament after it was unconstitutionally dissolved on May 22. A five-member Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Monday reinstated the dissolved House of Representatives for a second time in five months. The bench issued a mandamus to appoint then Opposition Leader Deuba as the Prime Minister by Tuesday and also ordered summoning new session of House of Representatives on July 18.
