The Bihar cabinet on Friday approved acquisition of an additional 89.75 acres of land for expansion and development of the Darbhanga airport into an international one. The council of ministers also gave its nod for acquisition of 139 acres of land worth Rs 207 crore for the expansion of Raxaul airport in the state, an official said. These decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here. Talking to reporters soon after the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth said, "The cabinet approved a proposal for the acquisition of 89.75 acres of land worth Rs 244.60 crore for the development and expansion of the existing Darbhanga airport into an international airport. The state government will pay the amount to the owners of the land... land will be transferred to the Airport Authority of India for the project". The development and expansion of the existing Darbhanga airport will improve air connectivity and benefit the people of the entire .
The airport, which is currently under construction, will start international operations by July next year, said Arun Bansal, chief executive officer (CEO), AAHL
With the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granting operating licence to the airport at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh's Vindhya region will get a much-needed boost to expand economic and regional connectivity, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said. With this, Madhya Pradesh will have six airports, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Khajuraho, an official said. "The Rewa Airport in the Vindhya region has received the DGCA licence. It will boost economic activity and expand regional connectivity in the state," Yadav said in a release on Monday night. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the airport will prove to be a milestone for the development of the Vindhya region under the motto of 'Developed India-Developed Madhya Pradesh', he said. "The DGCA has granted the licence to commence operations of both passenger and cargo flights," the chief minister said. The airport will improve connectivity to various cultural and historical places and boost trade, .
Uttar Pradesh will have five more airports in the next one month that will take the total number of airports in the state to 19, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Thursday as he flagged off direct flight from Ayodhya to Ahmedabad. The Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30. Scindia said that five new airports will be inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh in one month. The airports will be at Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot and Shravasti, taking the total number of airports in the state to 19. IndiGo, which has started services between Ayodhya and Delhi from January 11, will operate flights between Ayodhya and Ahmedabad thrice a week. GMR Airports Infrastructure on Tuesday reported a consolidated profit after tax of Rs 104.82 crore in the December quarter, against a loss of Rs 515.34 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. The revenue from operations during the quarter under review grew 29 per cent to Rs 1,766.36 crore from Rs 1,364.13 crore in the third quarter of fiscal 2021-22, GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd said in a regulatory filing. On a standalone basis, the company reported a loss of Rs 9.61 crore in Q3 FY23 from Rs 706.23 crore in the October-December period of FY22, while revenue from operations stood at Rs 28.44 crore as against Rs 8.85 crore earlier.
