Odisha to implement NEP 2020 in universities from current academic year

The Odisha government will implement the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, in all state-run universities and affiliated colleges from the current academic year, a statement said. The decision was taken by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, aiming to bring many reforms in the state's education system, it said. In accordance with the NEP, four-year undergraduate programmes will be started, replacing the regular three-year courses. A student can earn a certificate, diploma, degree and degree with honours after completion of each year in the four-year programme, it added. Tripura to implement NEP in general degree colleges from current session

Tripura is set to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in all the general degree colleges from the current academic session, an official said. The northeastern state has 25 general degree colleges under Tripura University, a central institute, and Maharaja Bir Bikram University, a state-run varsity. Admission in all the general degree colleges will be based on NEP-2021. Under the policy, students will be offered a four-year degree programme with exit window, said higher education director Nripendra Sharma on Wednesday. According to him, students who wish to opt for a three-year UG programme will be awarded a UG degree in the major discipline after successful completion. 144 institutions in Maharashtra to start NEP implementation this yr: Patil

At least 144 autonomous educational institutions in Maharashtra will start implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) from the current academic year, state minister Chandrakant Patil said on Friday. Addressing a news conference here, the higher education minister said the NEP 2020 will be implemented in phases. In the first phase, 87 general and 57 professional autonomous educational institutes in the state will implement the policy in this academic year, Patil said. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given approval to 36 educational institutes to operate as autonomous bodies, he said. "These (autonomous) institutes should start the courses according to the new National Education Policy using their autonomy," Patil said. The move will provide at least 3,500 colleges in the state a framework or model for implementation of the new policy, he said.
