State-owned hydro power giant NHPC on Monday said it has paid a final dividend of Rs 338.51 crore to the Government of India for 2023-24. In addition, an interim dividend of Rs 947.82 crore for 2023-24 was paid on March 5, 2024, aggregating a total dividend of Rs 1,286.33 crore for the entire fiscal year, the company said in a statement. "NHPC has paid a final dividend of Rs 338.51 crore to Government of India for the FY2023-24 on September 20, 2024," a company statement said. The dividend payout bank advice was presented to Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar by NHPC CMD R K Chaudhary on Monday, it said. Jakson Green has signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Ltd, a company statement said. This agreement marks a significant milestone for Jakson Green, solidifying its position as a fast-growing Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a total portfolio of 1 GW under development, the statement added. State-run hydro power giant NHPC has bagged a 200 MW solar project which will be set up at Gujarat State Electricity Corporation's 1,125 MW renewable energy park at Khavda, in Gujarat. The e-reverse auction for the project was conducted by GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam) on March 2, 2024 and the Letter of Intent was issued on March 14, 2024, a company statement said. The project was secured at a tariff of Rs 2.66 per unit and will be completed in a period of 18 months. The project will generate about 473 million units in the first year of commissioning and the cumulative generation from the project over a period of 25 years would be about 10,850 million units. The NHPC will develop the project on a build-own-and-operate basis at a tentative development cost of about Rs 847 crore.
State-owned NHPC expects to complete the proposed 1,200 MW solar power project entailing an investment of Rs 796.96 crore in Uttar Pradesh in two years, the company said on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone of the solar project through virtual mode. NHPC in an exchange filing stated that the Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park at Orai in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh will be developed by its subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd, at an investment of Rs 796.96 crore. "The park is proposed to be constructed in 24 months from the investment approval and will generate about 2,400 MUs (million units) of electricity every year," NHPC said. NHPC, under the Ministry of Power, is the largest hydropower development organisation in India, with capabilities to undertake all the activities from conceptualisation to commissioning of hydro projects. The Faridabad-based company has also diversified into solar and wind energy development.
The government's 3.5 per cent share sale offer in NHPC on Thursday received an enthusiastic response from institutional investors, who put in bids worth over Rs 6,000 crore. In the two-day offer for sale (OFS), the government is selling over 35 crore equity shares in power producer NHPC, including a greenshoe option to sell 10 crore more, at a floor price of Rs 66 a share. At the floor price of Rs 66/share, the OFS would fetch about Rs 2,000 crore to the exchequer. The OFS would open for retail investors on Friday. State-run hydro power giant NHPC on Wednesday said it suffered an expected loss of Rs 233.56 crore due to flash floods in its Teesta-VI hydro power project in Sikkim. The project was affected due to flash floods in Teesta basin on October 4, 2023. "Teesta-VI Hydro Electric Project, Sikkim (500 MW) being executed by Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NHPC Ltd, which was affected due to flash flood in Teesta Basin on October 4, 2023," the company said in a regulatory filing. The expected quantum of loss/ damage caused due to the natural calamity/ other force majeure events is Rs 233.56 crore approximately, it said. The company further said that all assets/ works of Teesta-VI HE project are insured under the Construction All Risk (CAR) Policy, subject to excess clause and loss limit. State-run hydro power giant NHPC on Wednesday said that it has received a letter of intent to build a 200 MW solar power project worth Rs 1007.60 from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam. "Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) had issued a Letter of Intent dated 16.05.2023 to NHPC Limited for 200 MW capacity Solar Power Project within600 MW GSECL's Solar Park at Khavda (GSECL Stage-1)," a BSE filing stated. The estimated financial implication for the said solar power project would be Rs.1,007.60 crore (approximately).
