Apraava Energy bags 250-MW solar project from NHPC via auction route

Apraava Energy on Thursday said it bagged a 250-MW solar energy project from state-owned NHPC Ltd. The project, won through the e-reverse auction mechanism at a walk-out tariff of Rs 2.53 per kWh, is scheduled to be completed within 24 months, a company statement said. This is Apraava's first greenfield solar power project through the auction route. The interstate transmission system (ISTS) connected solar energy project has been awarded by the NHPC Ltd in Rajasthan, the statement said. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director, Apraava Energy, said in the statement, "We are excited to strengthen our solar energy portfolio with this win in Rajasthan, a pivotal state driving the growth of renewable energy in India." The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the NHPC and Apraava Energy is for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commissioning date. As part of the agreement, Apraava Energy will be responsible for design, construction and operation of the project for the PPA tenure.

NHPC pledges to invest Rs 4k cr in 750 MW Kuppa hydro storage project

NHPC has inked an initial pact to invest Rs 4,000 crore in 750 MW Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project at Chhota Udaipur in Gujarat. Taking a step towards clean and green energy, NHPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL) for investment in Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project (750 MW) on January 3, 2024, a company statement said. According to the statement, the MoU was signed at an event organised at the Secretariat in Gandhinagar under the aegis of 'Vibrant Gujarat'. In the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and state Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, the MoU was signed by Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, GPCL, and V Srivastava, Executive Director, Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen, NHPC, the statement said. Gensol to develop NHPC's green hydrogen mobility station project in Laddakh

Gensol Engineering Ltd on Thursday said it has emerged as the lowest bidder for NHPC's Kargil Green Hydrogen Mobility Station EPC Project in Laddakh. Gensol has secured this project by demonstrating techno-commercial competency in collaboration with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd (Matrix), the company said in a statement. Gensol will develop a 500-kW grid-connected, ground-mounted solar power project that will provide energy to the hydrogen refuelling station. The scope of work includes the entire balance of plant EPC encompassing the green hydrogen system installation, storage, and dispensing facilities, in addition to the requisite civil and electrical infrastructure for the integrated solar and hydrogen operation in Ladakh, it said. Avaada Energy secures 1,400 MW solar project in bidding hosted by NHPC

Avaada Energy on Tuesday said it has bagged a 1,400 MW solar project under tariff-based competitive bidding hosted by state-run hydro power giant NHPC Ltd. The project won through an e-reverse auction process showcases Avaada Energy's commitment to competitive pricing with a winning tariff of Rs 2.53 per kWh, as per a company statement. "Avaada Energy, a key player in the Avaada Group's diversified portfolio is proud to announce its latest achievement -- securing a 1,400 MWp Solar Project through an e-reverse auction hosted by NHPC Ltd, the Renewable Energy Implementing Agency of the Government of India," a company statement said. NHPC net profit rises marginally to Rs 1,693 crore in September quarter

State-owned hydro power giant NHPC on Monday posted a marginal rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 1,693.26 crore compared to a year ago. Its consolidated net profit was Rs 1,685.81 crore in the quarter ended September last year, a BSE filing showed. Total income dipped to Rs 3,113.82 crore in the reporting quarter from Rs 3,477.93 crore recorded in the same period a year ago.

NHPC suffered expected loss of Rs 233.56 cr due to flash floods in Sikkim

State-run hydro power giant NHPC on Wednesday said it suffered an expected loss of Rs 233.56 crore due to flash floods in its Teesta-VI hydro power project in Sikkim. The project was affected due to flash floods in Teesta basin on October 4, 2023. "Teesta-VI Hydro Electric Project, Sikkim (500 MW) being executed by Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NHPC Ltd, which was affected due to flash flood in Teesta Basin on October 4, 2023," the company said in a regulatory filing. The expected quantum of loss/ damage caused due to the natural calamity/ other force majeure events is Rs 233.56 crore approximately, it said. The company further said that all assets/ works of Teesta-VI HE project are insured under the Construction All Risk (CAR) Policy, subject to excess clause and loss limit. NHPC's two hydropower plants in Sikkim affected due to flash floods

State-owned NHPC's two hydro power plants in Teesta Basin in Sikkim have been affected following flash floods on Wednesday. According to a BSE filing, the two affected projects are Teesta-V Power Station (510 MW) and Teesta-VI (500 MW), being executed by Lanco Teesta Hydro Power Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NHPC. "It is also to inform that considering the emergent situation, all units of Teesta-V Power Station have been shut down," the filing said. Detailed assessment of losses/ damages will be carried out after the water level recedes.

State-owned NHPC has inked an initial pact with the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation to set up pumped storage hydropower and other renewable energy projects in Andhra Pradesh. In the first phase, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) envisages building of two pumped hydro storage projects having a total capacity of 1,950 MW, an official statement said. These projects will be established at Kamalapadu (950 MW) and Yaganti (1,000 MW). Once ready, these projects are expected to create significant employment opportunities and boost the local economy. The projects will be implemented as a joint venture. State-owned hydro power giant NHPC has inked an initial pact with RITES to construct railway siding for a 2,880 MW Dibang multipurpose project in Arunachal Pradesh. "NHPC signed an MoU with RITES for Construction of Railway Siding at Pasighat (Arunachal Pradesh) for NHPC's 2,880 MW Dibang Multi Purpose Project at NHPC Corporate Office on 21st August 2023," a company statement said. "Parminder Chopra has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of PFC by the Government of India from 14th August 2023. Previously, she was holding the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) from June 1, 2023, and was Director (Finance), PFC, since July 1, 2020," a company statement said. State-owned hydro power giant NHPC on Friday posted a 4 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 1,095.38 in the June quarter compared to the year-ago quarter mainly on the back of higher revenues. The consolidated net profit of the company was Rs 1,053.76 crore in the quarter ended on June 30, 2022, a BSE filing showed. The total income of the company increased to Rs 3,010.22 crore in the quarter from Rs 2,886.95 crore in the same period a year ago. The NHPC Ltd is India's premier hydropower company. Its total installed capacity is 7097.2 MW of renewable power (including Wind & Solar) through its 25 power stations including 1520 MW through subsidiary.
