Nissan Motor India recalls Magnite units to fix front door handle sensors

Nissan Motor India on Thursday said it is voluntarily recalling Magnite units produced between November 2020 and December 2023 for a retrofit of front door handle sensors. The company did not share the number of affected units. This proactive and mandatory preventive action impacts the base XE and mid XL variants only, with no impact to the safety of customers, the automaker said in a statement on its website. All Nissan Magnite units manufactured after December 2023 remain unaffected, it added. The automaker said it will begin notifying the owners of the affected vehicles and assured them that they can continue using their vehicles without interruption. Customers can visit their nearest authorised Nissan service workshop, where a retrofit of the sensor will be performed free of charge, it added. Nissan Magnite is a five seater compact sports utility vehicle.

Nissan Motor India names Saurabh Vatsa as Deputy Managing Director

Nissan Motor India on Monday said it has appointed Saurabh Vatsa as the Deputy Managing Director with immediate effect. He will report to Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava and support in implementing the company's ongoing transformation roadmap, the automaker said in a statement. The appointment is reflective of the company's transformation plan to meet the opportunities and challenges ahead for the automotive industry in India, it added. Vatsa joins Nissan from Stellantis, where he was a member of the Stellantis leadership team and spearheading the Citroen brand since its inception in India. "His (Vatsa) appointment underpins our commitment to invest USD 600 m USD (Rs 5,300 crore) in India as part of the Alliance and introduce more products for the Indian consumer as part of the transformation plan," Nissan India Operations President Frank Torres said.

Nissan reports 24% increase to 2,617 units in wholesales in April

Nissan Motor India on Monday said its domestic wholesales increased 24 per cent to 2,617 units in April. The company had dispatched 2,110 units in the same month of last year. The automaker also exported 632 units last month. Nissan Motor India Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava said that the positive momentum continues on the strength of the Magnite, which has garnered over one lakh customer bookings. "Our focus continues to be the domestic market while continuously expanding our global footprint of exports to more than 15 countries," he said in a statement. Going forward, the company expects the customer sentiment to remain positive on account of GDP growth and normal monsoon, with industry projections of high single digit growth for the FY 2023-24 period, Srivastava added.

Nissan Motor India's total wholesales rise 28% to 8,991 units in Dec 2022

Nissan Motor India on Monday reported a 28 per cent rise in total wholesales at 8,991 units in December 2022. The company had sold a total of 7,026 units in the same month a year ago, Nissan Motor India said in a statement. Domestic sales were down 32.89 per cent last month at 2,020 units as compared to 3,010 units in December 2021, it added. However, exports grew by 73.6 per cent at 6,971 units over 4,016 units in the year-ago month. "The year has been challenging on the supply side, customer interest has been strong specially in the festive period. The higher purchasing power of the customers is driving interest towards aspirational products," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava said.

Nissan Motor wholesales rise 45% to 10,011 units in Oct in festive season

Nissan Motor India on Tuesday said its total wholesales increased by 45 per cent to 10,011 units in October as compared to the same month last year. The company had dispatched a total of 6,917 units in October 2021. Last month the automaker sold 3,061 units in the domestic market and also exported 6,950 units, Nissan Motor India said in a statement. The company had dispatched 3,913 and 3,004 units in the domestic and international markets, respectively, last October. "Festive season has strong momentum of increased number of deliveries, with customer preference for early delivery and ease of finance. Preference of customers was for SUVs specially amongst the first time and replacement buyers," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava noted. The company is confident that demand will continue to rise with an improvement in economic growth, customer sentiment and with improvement in supply, he added.

Nissan Motor sales in India decline by 16.64% to 7,265 units in September

Nissan Motor India on Saturday reported a 16.64 per cent decline in sales at 7,265 units in September 2022. The company had clocked wholesales of 8,716 units in the same month last year. Domestic wholesale last month stood at 3,177 units as compared to 2,816 units in September 2021, Nissan Motor India said in a statement. Exports were at 4,088 units as against 5,900 units in the year-ago month, it added. "The festive season has contributed to an increase in demand for the Nissan Magnite across markets on the strength of its value proposition. We are hopeful the momentum will continue with improvement in supply and customer sentiments," Nissan Motor India Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava said.
