A plan to resolve the logjam between stakeholders of group housing projects in Noida, Greater Noida is expected in two weeks, a senior Uttar Pradesh government officer said on Monday. According to officials, a meeting of Noida Authority, Greater Noida, bank representatives and real estate developers was held here on May 20 to discuss an action plan for "stuck up" housing projects in the region. During the meeting, some of the bankers also expressed their concern over the region's "declining feasibility" in terms of investment in future, an official, who attended the meeting, told PTI on condition of anonymity. "A lot of housing projects in Noida, Greater Noida have been stuck for a long time. Home buyers in many projects which have been delivered are awaiting registry of the homes for a long time," the official said. The Noida Police on Thursday rounded up 135 history-sheeters and anti-social elements in a major operation to check criminal activities in the region, a senior officer said. Those rounded up were let off by the police in the morning after a detailed verification of their current whereabouts, financial sources, and professions, they said. The raids started around 11 pm on Wednesday and continued overnight despite intense rains and thundering in the early hours of Thursday, he said. History-sheeters are repeat offenders involved in serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, robbery and kidnapping and are regularly monitored by the police, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said. Realty firm Group 108 on Wednesday said it has proposed to invest Rs 2,000 crore to develop new projects in Noida and Greater Noida as part of its expansion plan. The company, earlier part of Bhutani Group and now re-branded as Group 108, is currently developing a 40 lakh square feet commercial project 'Grandthum' in Greater Noida (West). "We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at UP investment summit to invest Rs 2000 crore in the development of real estate projects," Group 108 MD Amish Bhutani told reporters here. He said the company is in talks with landowners to buy land for development of commercial and residential projects at Noida and Greater Noida. Bhutani said the ongoing commercial project, spread over 23 acres, will get completed by March 2024. A total of 58,685 challans -- an average of over 3,900 daily -- were issued for violation of traffic rules in Noida and Greater Noida during a 15-day campaign, according to data. Police also seized nearly 1,000 vehicles during the drive. Launched on April 28, the 'Discipline of the Road 1' campaign focused particularly on checking wrong-lane driving and illegal parking, among other violations, a senior official said. According to the official data, 58,685 challans were issued during the campaign period. Of these, 7,792 were for wrong-lane driving/riding and 14,430 for parking violations. The traffic police towed 1,128 vehicles while 996 were impounded for violations even as FIRs were lodged in five cases during the fortnight, the data showed. The total penalty amount from challans during the campaign was Rs 4,91,600 (Rs 4.91 lakh), according to the official figures. Consumer electronics company Ekka Electronics on Wednesday said will investing Rs 1,000 crore to set up a factory in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and enter into the manufacturing of products such as washing machines, smart watches, hearables and TWS (true wireless stereo). The Noida plant, in which the company would invest Rs 400 crore by July this year on the acquisition of land, equipment, construction of the facility etc., will house a complete backward integration and in-house design and manufacturing solutions, said its director Sagar Gupta. The Noida Authority on Sunday said it has earmarked Rs 1,000 crore for acquisition of land for area which would be known as 'New Noida'. The authority also made a provision of Rs 500 crore for land acquisition in the existing Noida area, while it set aside Rs 1,906 crore for infrastructure and development work, it said in a statement. The announcements were made after the 209th Board Meeting of the Noida Authority held in presence of UP Industrial and Infrastructure Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh. The Noida Authority Board approved a budget of Rs 6,920 crore for 2023-24 during the meeting, also attended by Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari. Amid a rise in Covid cases, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Health Department on Thursday issued a set of recommendations that includes practising social distancing and use of face masks at offices, schools, colleges, and cinema halls, among other public places. For workplaces, the guidelines recommend the use of sanitisers, proper cleaning of offices, thermal temperature scanners at office entries, and work-from-home option for employees showing signs of cold, cough, fever, and flu and suggested Covid test for them. The guidelines came as Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi, registered 114 more positive cases of Covid on Thursday, pushing the tally of active patients across Noida and Greater Noida to 396 -- the highest so far this year, according to official data.
