Rental yields in housing properties located at Gurugram and Noida have improved over the last few years and stood at 4.1 per cent and 3.7 per cent, respectively, during the latest March quarter, according to Anarock. Rental yield is the annual return on investment (ROI) investors earn from capital invested in a property. Real estate consultant Anarock report mentioned that there has been a steep rise in rental housing demand in the top cities. As a result, average rental values have soared and rental yields have been heading steadily north. LS polls, phase 2: Elderly among first to vote as polling begins in Noida

Senior citizens dominated the early hours of voting in Noida in the Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency as polling began here Friday morning in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election. The queues were short and many booths reported brisk voting in the first hour, according to some of the electors. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, who is also the District Election Officer, joined the early voters to exercise his democratic right. "I am also excited like other voters. I appeal to residents to exercise their right and cast votes in large numbers. I hope this time we will have better voter turnout than the last time," Verma said after casting his vote at Cambridge school in Sector 27. Stage set for Lok Sabha elections in Ghaziabad, Noida today; 5.6 mn to vote

Gautam Buddh Nagar is set for the Lok Sabha election on Friday and around 20,000 personnel will be on polling duty to facilitate the process for more than 26.75 lakh registered voters in the constituency, according to officials. "Of the personnel on poll duty, around 11,000 are from the security, including police, paramilitary, civil force, and homeguards, while about 9,000 are administrative staff and officers who will be deployed at voting booths and stations," District Election Officer Manish Kumar Verma told PTI. There are 1,852 booths in the constituency and live web casting will be done on 931 of them, while the remaining will have provisions for either CCTV or videography. The constituency has 164 vulnerable booths and 165 critical booths, he said. "Micro observers will be stationed at vulnerable and critical booths," Verma said. Schools and colleges in Gautam Buddh Nagar will stay closed on account of Lok Sabha election in the constituency on Friday but will remain open on Saturday, officials said. Factories and industries have also been directed to give paid holiday to workers on Friday to enable them to cast their votes, the officials said. Gautam Buddh Nagar, comprising the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida, goes to polls on April 26 with 26.75 lakh registered voters. "All schools and colleges in Gautam Buddh Nagar will stay closed on Friday but will remain open on Saturday and function normally," District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said. Noida restaurants, hospitals offer 'Democracy Discount' to voters on Apr 26

Restaurants and hospitals here are offering discounts on their services to citizens who go out to vote in the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. The initiative called Democracy Discount allows the citizens to avail 20 per cent discount in restaurants in Noida and Greater Noida by showing their finger with voter ink on April 26 and April 27. Experion Developers to invest Rs 1,500 cr to build new projects in Noida

Realty firm Experion Developers will invest about Rs 1,500 crore to develop a luxury housing project in Noida as part of its expansion plans amid sharp rise in demand for residential properties. Gurugram-based Experion Developers has registered its new project 'Experion Elements' with real estate regulatory authority, RERA, for launch. The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Experion Holdings Pte Ltd, Singapore, will develop around 320 housing units in this 4.7-acre project at Noida in Uttar Pradesh. Over 7,500 trees cut for 16-km section of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: RTI

As many as 7,575 trees have been felled on a nearly 16-km-long section of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and over 1.76 lakh are to be planted in compensation for it, according to the National Highways Authority of India. Of the felled trees on the Ganeshpur-Dehradun section of the project, 4,983 were in Uttarakhand, while 2,592 were in Uttar Pradesh, the NHAI said in response to a query filed under provisions of the Right To Information (RTI) Act. In the RTI query, Noida-based social activist Amit Gupta also sought to know the status of replantation and survival of trees on the 15.8-km-long section of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. In his response, Pankaj Kumar Mourya, the public information officer-cum-project director, said 155 trees have been translocated in Uttar Pradesh and 121 of them have survived the translocation. Noida Police invokes Sec 144 till Apr 26 ahead of LS polls, festivals

Restrictions under CrPC section 144 would remain imposed across Noida and Greater Noida till April 26, the day of the Lok Sabha election here, according to an order issued by the Gautam Buddh Nagar police. Fire at dumping yard in Noida simmers for 4th day, 150 firefighters on spot

The fire at a dumping yard in Noida simmered for the fourth day on Thursday even as 150 personnel of the Fire Service Department continued with their round-the-clock efforts to completely douse it, according to officials. As many as 15 fire tenders are deployed at the spot and an estimated 35 lakh litres of water has been used to control the fire, which was by Thursday evening contained to less than 15 per cent of the area and was expected to be completely doused by Friday, a senior officer said. The fire broke out at a plot in Sector 32 which was being used as a dumping yard of Noida Authority's horticulture department to store pruned trees. The site was filled with dry leaves and twigs too, where some unidentified miscreants allegedly ignited fire around 6 pm on Monday -- the day of the Holi festival -- according to authority officials. No consumption of liquor at public places on Holi, say Noida Police

No religious prayers or processions would be allowed at public places or disputed sites across Noida and Greater Noida on Monday (Holi), the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police said on Sunday as it imposed CrPC section 144 across the district. Police also ordered that no person shall consume "liquor or intoxicating substances" at any public place and warned action under IPC section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) for violation of the order. In its order, police said along with Holi, Dhulandi festivals, protests are also proposed by some groups on March 25 and in view of this, "the possibility of disturbance of peace by anti-social elements cannot be ruled out." Youtuber Elvish Yadav gets bail from Gurugram court in assault case

A Gurugram court on Saturday granted bail to Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav in a case of assault against YouTuber Sagar Thakur alias Maxtern, said police. "The court heard the bail application and granted bail in the case. He will have to furnish a bail bond which would be submitted in the court," said his counsel, Advocate Himanshu Yadav. The Gurugram Police had on Wednesday filed an application seeking a production warrant for Elvish Yadav, who was then lodged in Noida jail. Snake venom case: Noida Police arrests two associates of Elvish Yadav

Noida Police on Wednesday arrested two associates of YouTuber Elvish Yadav over its probe into suspected use of snake venoms as recreational drugs in parties, officials said. The arrest of the duo comes close on the heels of the police nabbing Yadav on Sunday after questioning him in the case. The duo's name had not featured in the original FIR, lodged at the Sector 49 Police Station in Noida on November 3, but their links in the case surfaced during the investigation, a senior officer said. "Those arrested have been identified as Ishwar (50) and Vinay Yadav (25).
