Maruti Suzuki aims to boost festive sales with November wedding surge

With a record October month behind, the country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India is banking on a "few lakhs marriages" slated for November to carry forward the festive sales momentum, according to a senior company official. The company clocked retail sales of 2,02,402 units last month, which is its highest for any October month on the back of festive sales, breaking the previous record of 1,91,476 units posted in October 2020. "We are made to understand that some 'few lakhs' marriages are being planned across the country (in November). So we are pretty hopeful that it will also give us good traction in terms of our retail sales," Maruti Suzuki India Ltd Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Partho Banerjee told PTI. He was responding to a query on whether the company would be able to carry on the momentum of festive season sales for the next few months. Honda posts 55% rise in domestic sales in November at 9,990 units

Honda Cars India on Tuesday reported a 55 per cent increase in domestic sales at 9,990 units in November. The company had sold 6,459 units in the domestic market in November 2019, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) said in a statement. Exports stood at 31 units last month, it added. "The festive season this year was good for us with sales improving by 55 per cent in November and contributing to overall industry growth. "With new and refreshed model line-up along with lucrative offers for consumers, we were able to leverage festive demand and register good sales," HCIL Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales) Rajesh Goel said. Auto sales see all-round growth, up 24% in November

In a rare show, all segments of the automobile industry showed double-digit sales growth in November, thanks to the demonetisation-led low base of November 2016. Passenger vehicles (PVs), usually the star performer, grew 14 per cent, lowest among all segments.
