Former prime minister Manmohan Singh always cooperated with his security team and showed concern and care towards the personnel deployed for his safety, recollected a retired IPS officer who was entrusted with the responsibility of the outer ring of his security details. Recalling one such instance, Sunil Garg, who served with the Delhi Police's security unit for six years, told PTI that during a cold winter, the former prime minister asked him to arrange tea and coffee for the personnel deployed around his house. Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan was on Tuesday appointed as the Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG). Srinivasan is a 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Bihar cadre. National counter-terrorist exercise of police forces planned next month

A joint exercise of various state and central police counter-terrorist forces is planned to be held next month by the federal contingency commando force NSG as part of a strategy to fine tune the national crisis management plan and enhance jointness, official sources said on Friday. The ninth edition of the exercise code-named "Agni Pariksha" is slated to be held between October 24 and November 4 at the garrison of the 'black cats' commandos force in Manesar (Gurugram). NSG team collects evidence from Shimla eatery rocked by explosion

A National Security Guard (NSG) team on Sunday visited the Mall Road eatery in Shimla where a gas leak apparently led to a blast, killing one person and injuring 13 more. The blast occurred on Tuesday evening at Himachali Rasoi restaurant, known for serving Himachali cuisines, located in Middle Bazaar adjacent to the fire brigade office in the heart of the city. Police said the blast was apparently caused by a gas leak. As an NSG team reached Amritsar on Tuesday, DGP Gaurav Yadav said the Punjab Police is taking help of all agencies to probe the two blasts that took place in the city within 30 hours.
