Prime Minister Narendra Modi is appealing for votes on caste identity, but does not want to do justice to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Wednesday. PM Modi on Tuesday night in a post on "X" said the countdown to a BJP chief minister of Telangana who belongs to the Backward Communities began from Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium in the city where he addressed a poll rally. Reacting to that, Owaisi on "X" also said PM Modi promises to remove reservations for backward Muslims, opposes the 27 per cent OBC quota and did not remove the 50 per cent ceiling on reservations. "PM is appealing for votes on caste identity, but does not want to do justice to OBCsWhen I say that Muslims are underrepresented in Indian politics, I am called anti-national & communal. Modi is desperate and it's showing," the Hyderabad MP said. Hitting out at the alleged 'parivaarvad' mindset of the Congress and BRS, Modi on Tuesday here said these parties will never make a ...

Will conduct caste-based census; find out no of OBCs in country: Rahul

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said if his party is voted to power at the Centre, it would conduct a caste-based census to know the exact number of OBC people living in the country. He claimed that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and central government officers were framing the laws of the country instead of the elected representatives of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a public meeting in Kalapipal assembly constituency in Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh, where state elections are due by the year-end, Gandhi described the state as an "epicentre of corruption" and claimed that 18,000 farmers have ended their lives there in the last 18 years under the BJP rule. "Soon after coming to power, the first thing we will do is to go for a caste-based census to know the exact number of OBCs and other sections of people for the benefit of all as no one knows their exact number," Gandhi said. He claimed that the country was being run by only 90 officers, ...

Ahead of PM's Bhopal visit, Uma Bharti raises demand for OBC reservation

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled arrival in Bhopal, senior BJP leader Uma Bharti on Monday said she expects the PM to give a positive signal about carving out a quota for OBCs within the recently passed women's reservation bill. Earlier last week, Bharti had expressed her disappointment for not including the OBC (Other Backward Classes) quota within the constitutional amendment bill which provided 33 per cent reservation to women in Lok Sabha and state legislatures. "Prime Minister is welcomed in the land of Bhopal. He is the messiah of the poor and backward, I am sure he will give a positive signal on OBC reservation for women, Bharti posted on X on Monday morning, hours before the PM visits Bhopal where he will address a mega meeting of BJP workers. Bharti had told PTI last week that she was happy that the women's reservation bill was introduced in Parliament, but was feeling somewhat dejected because it doesn't have the provision for reservation for OBCs. The ..
