Hyperlocal e-commerce firm magicpin has partnered with government-backed NCCF to sell groceries, including onions and pulses, through the Open Network for Digital Commerce at low price, the company said on Friday. The partnership follows a collaboration of magicpin with National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF) for selling tomato at Rs 70 per kilogramme when its prices were above Rs 100 a kg in the market. "We are thrilled to continue our partnership with NCCF and leverage ONDC to serve the community by making essential commodities easily accessible," magicpin said, adding, "we're committed to ONDC's mission to democratise the e-commerce system." Amazon has begun offering its Fresh grocery delivery service to customers who aren't Prime members. The initial rollout will only be available in a dozen cities, including Boston, Phoenix, Dallas and San Francisco, the company told customers Wednesday in an emailed announcement. Previously, Amazon had only offered grocery deliveries for Prime members, who pay $139 a year for faster shipping and other perks. Non-Prime members who're interested in trying out the service will pay $13.95 for deliveries under $50. That's $4 more than Prime members have to pay for the same order size. Deliveries for orders between $50 and $100 will cost $10.95, and orders over $100 will incur a $7.95 fee. The company said pick-up orders are free from select metro areas. Nearly 44 per cent of respondents feel that quality of fresh fruits and vegetables is better on online shopping platforms while 56 per cent think offline is superior, according to a survey. Agritech startup Otipy, which sells fresh fruits and vegetables along with groceries in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai, has conducted an online survey of more than 3,000 people during May to find out the changing shopping behaviours of consumers, the company said in a statement. On affordability, the survey findings revealed that 50 per cent of respondents feel offline is cheaper while the remaining 50 per cent believe that rates are lower on online platforms. Regarding weightage, around 50 per cent feel both online and offline modes are accurate, while nearly 30 per cent feel online is better. Among other findings, 71 per cent of respondents expressed preference for online shopping.
