Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 16.47 lakh new members in April as per payroll data released on Wednesday. "Through the data, it is noticeable that more jobs have been generated for the youth of the nation as out of the total 16.47 lakh employees added during the month, 7.84 lakh employees amounting to around 47.60 per cent of the total registrations belong to the age group of up to 25 years," a labour ministry statement said. According to the statement the provisional payroll data of ESIC reveals that 16.47 lakh new employees have been added in April 2024. Also, it stated that the gender-wise analysis of the payroll data indicates that net enrolment of female members was 3.38 lakh in April. Besides, 53 transgender employees also got registered under the ESI Scheme in the April, attesting to ESIC's commitment to deliver its benefits to every section of society. Around 18,490 new establishments have been brought under the social security ambit of the ESI Scheme

Retirement fund body EPFO added 13.95 lakh net members in November 2023, as per the latest payroll data released on Saturday. Cumulative net addition of members during the current financial year continues to remain higher than that of the corresponding period of the previous year, a labour ministry statement said. According to the statement, the EPFO's (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) provisional payroll data highlighted that the body added 13.95 lakh net members in November. The data indicates that around 7.36 lakh new members were enrolled during the month. The 18-25 age-group constitutes 57.30 per cent of the total new members added during the month, showing that a majority of members joining the organised sector workforce of the country are youth, who are mostly first-time job seekers. Around 23,468 new establishments have been registered and brought under the social security umbrella of the ESIC in October 2023, ensuring more coverage, the Labour Ministry said in a statement while releasing the payroll data. Around 17.28 lakh new employees have been added in October 2023, the ministry said. More jobs have been generated for the youth as out of the total 17.28 lakh employees added, 8.25 lakh employees up to the age group of 25 years constitute new registrations, which is 47.76 per cent of the total employees. Employees' State Insurance Corporation added 19.88 lakh new workers under its health insurance scheme ESI in July 2023. The provisional payroll data of ESIC shows that 19.88 lakh new employees were added in the month, a labour ministry statement said. Around 27,870 new establishments were registered and brought under the social security umbrella of ESIC in the month under review, thus ensuring more coverage, it said. The data shows that more jobs were generated for the youth as out of the total 19.88 lakh employees added during the month, 9.54 lakh were up to the age of 25 years, constituting the majority of new registrations. The latest data is part of a report -- Payroll Reporting in India: An Employment Perspective - May 2022 -- released by the National Statistical Office (NSO). It showed that the gross new enrolments with Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) rose to 1.49 crore in 2021-22, from 1.15 crore in 2020-21. It was 1.51 crore in 2019-20 and 1.49 crore in 2018-19. From September 2017 to March 2018, around 83.35 lakh new subscribers joined the ESIC scheme. The report said gross new enrolments with ESIC from September 2017 to May 2022 were 6.76 crore.
