BS ReporterHyderabad, 3 August: State drug controllers have been given complete jurisdiction to issue no objection certificates(NOCs) for manufacture of unapproved, banned or new drugs that are solely meant for exports. The Drug Control General of India (DCGI) discontinued the earlier practice wherein the grant of such NoCs were being overseen by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation(CDSCO). These orders will come into effect from August 20, 2018.The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has recently approached the drug regulator seeking a waiver of bio equivalence(BE) studies for grant of license of oral dosage form of drugs specified under BCS category 2 and 4 for export purpose.Drug controllers in some states were insisting on submission of results of BE studies endorsed by the CDSO for grant of license to manufacture such drugs for export purpose and this has been causing difficulties to the exporters, according to Pharmexcil. Hyderabad, 27 FebruaryIndian pharma exports have increased 5.6 per cent to $ 4,357 million during October-December period in this financial year over the same quarter previous fiscal, as per the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) data. The pharma body, which works under the Union Commerce Ministry, expects the rise in exports in the second half of this year to more than compensate for a marginal decline in the exports during April-October period.India has seen 9.7 per cent increase in pharma exports at $16.89 billion in the last financial year. The January-March quarter is likely to add further momentum to the export growth seen in the October-December period, according to Pharmexcil director general Ravi Uday Bhaskar.
