Polaris Industries plans to assemble Indian Motorcycle in India
US-based $4.7 billion Polaris Industries, a leading off-road vehicle manufacturer, is planning to assemble Indian Motorcycle and its terrain vehicles in India. The company has been importing these vehicles mainly from US.Speaking to Business Standard Pankaj Dubey, CEO of Eicher Polaris said that this year has been challenging due to demonetisation, emission norms and GST, but now things have started coming back.Indian Motorcycle, is a wholly-owned division of Polaris Industries Inc, is focussed mainly in 1200cc market. The brand claims it has market share of around 8-10 per cent in this market, which is estimated to be around 1000-1200 units a year."Once we do CKD then our market share can double. This is part of our mid-term horizon which is around 2-3 years."The company is also looking at launching new products including one before end of this year and three variants next year.
