Baltimore police fatally shoots man who pulled gun during interrogation

Police officers in Baltimore fatally shot a man who pulled a gun while they questioned him in a different shooting, authorities said. A detective was shot in the chest, and his protective vest likely saved his life, Police Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters. Police were on the city's south side investigating a shooting Friday night in which 15 rounds were fired at a group of people, Worley said. No one was hurt in that incident. As police questioned a man, he stood up and pulled out a gun. Officers ordered the man to drop the weapon numerous times before shots were fired, Worley said. Investigators have not determined who shot first, the commissioner said. The identities of the man who was killed and the wounded officer have not been released. At least three officers fired their guns. All were placed on administrative leave as the Maryland Office of the Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division looks into the shooting.

Police arrests more than 150 persons for forcibly entering flats

Police has registered a case against about 160 people for allegedly forcibly entering into flats built under a government scheme in Maharashtra's Thane district while protesting against the housing project on village land, officials said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday when the people from Bhandarli and Gotheghar villages allegedly entered three buildings, broke the locks of 400 flats and occupied them, police said. The villagers have long been opposing the project developed by the Konkan Housing and Area Development Board in the two villages under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, an official from Daighar police station said quoting the FIR. They had earlier put up banners warning that they would enter the houses on November 7, the FIR said. A probe is on into the case, the official added.
